Inspired by the 2014 Winter Olympics, the Illinois Office of Tourism (IOT) showcased the state's brightest stars in the tourism industry with the second annual 'Lincoln Awards.' presented during a special program at the Excellence in Tourism Awards on February 3, part of the 2014 Governor's Conference on Travel & Tourism.  Award recipients are those "behind the scenes stars" that go above and beyond for the Illinois tourism industry. Meet GOA's own Christina Anderson-Heller, Marketing Director of Lynfred Winery, was presented the Ski Jumping Gold Medal - awarded to an individual who isn't afraid to take risks to achieve new heights - by Illinois State Travel Director, Jen Hoelzle.  GONE III Where Referrals Are Key!

GONE III is one of the four industry exclusive networking groups that operate as sub groups of GOA. All of the groups meet weekly and exchange referrals. Each of the groups has its own personality and ways to optimize the amount of business exchanged among its members.

There are three things that make GONE III unique. First, at GONE III is we track the quality of referrals. This is in recognition that we are a referral group and NOT a leads group.  When you get a referral from a member of our group, the referral expects your call. Second, we have several events throughout the year which are intended to help build trust  among our members. Trust that helps facilitate referrals. Examples of trust building activities are monthly Buddy Lunches, Our annual Rib Cook Off and our annual awards celebration. Third we have a mutually beneficial relationship with the Elk Grove Township. We meet at the Township Hall and the Township is an honorary member.

GONE III meets at the Elk Grove Township Hall which is just North of I90 on Arlington Heights Road every Friday from 7:30 AM to 9:00 AM. For more information please contact Roger Smith at 847-882-3710.

"Kenneth Young Center (KYC) has used the Pipeline to announce upcoming events and partnerships with local businesses who are also members of the GOA. We believe this is a good medium as it raises awareness in the business community about our organization and possible partnership opportunities. Additionally, we gain exposure to individuals who may want to learn more about KYC and help us to achieve our mission.  Many of the individuals who receive the Pipeline live, work orkyc do business in the area so it helps us to reach our target audience. For the aforementioned reasons, we would recommend using the Pipeline to other GOA members." LaKesha Lockett, Coordinator of Communications at the Kenneth Young Center
