Cleaning up in Ras Mohammed
|
Thanks to all the willing volunteers who took part in our clean up dive in the Ras Mohammed National Park in September.
The day was organised in support of PADI Project Aware's dive against debris initiative. 25 divers on our boats Obiwan and Hooligan headed for Marsa Ghazlani and collected 120 kgs of rubbish.
Special thanks also to Kevin Grice who organised the event, to the Ras Mohammed National Park officials for their help in disposing of the rubbish and to PADI's Regional Manager Teo Brambilla who joined us for the day and handed out certificates and prizes to all participants.

Flights News
|
News from Easyjet Airlines last month indicates that they are adding two new routes to Sharm El Sheikh. From 1 April 2013 you will be able to fly direct from Stansted or Milan - prices from both airports are looking good with return flights from Stanstead under 200 sterling and returns from Milan at just over 100 euros!
Also recently announced - Turkish Airlines are flying direct from Istanbul at very reasonable prices.

Here's to wishing everyone a wonderful Christmas and a very  Happy New Year. It's been another great year here in Sharm El Sheikh where everything continues to be peaceful both above and below the water.
We've had so many great encounters from the Hammerheads that waited patiently for our boats to arrive day after day in the summer to seahorse sightings in the bay and frogfish springing up in so many places! So, it's all to look forward to next year when we hope to catch up with lots of familiar faces for some more great diving. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy reading our latest news stories, special offers and stories about what we have been up to both above and below the water.

It's been another fantastic year for Divemasters at Oonas, since our last newsletter we have been proud to qualify 7 new Divemasters.
Big congratulations to:
  Nicola Williams Jordan Griffin Hanneke Van Liere
   Hazel Johnson Warner Bates Rachel Hurst and Ahmed Hafez.
Special congratulations also to Nicola Williams now an Assistant Instructor and Warner Bates and Rachel Hurst who carried on to become PADI Instructors.

Photographic Firsts!
|
This year we were very happy to host two photography workshops with long time Oonas guest and friend, Rico Besserdich who currently holds the World Champion Title in Underwater Photography. The workshops entitled "Creative Underwater Photography for Contests and Competitions" involved a week long programme of practical workshops, evening talks and assessments and culminated in an evening when the best of the weeks' sensational pictures were presented to all our other guests. In addition to these specialised workshops, we were also lucky to welcome back, ex Oonas member of staff, Paul 'Duxy" Duxfield for another of his popular Photography Weeks in June. Duxy and Shelley spent a week in June with guests on Hooligan supporting and assisting participants of all levels, as well as hosting evening presentations on wide range of topics.
