WINTER MOUNTAIN
WMR2012

High School Students - Winter Mountain Retreat, always one of the highlights of the school year, is only weeks away! Students and faculty will spend January 28-30 at Pine Summit Christian Camp in Big Bear, CA where they will have the opportunity to get away from everyday life, to develop stronger bonds with one another, and to encounter Jesus Christ in a different way. MEXICO TRIP DONATIONS
During Easter Vacation, over 85 Linfield Christian High School students, faculty, and staff will be traveling to Ensenada, Mexico where they will build two houses for struggling families and spend time ministering to kids at a local orphanage. But everyone at Linfield has the opportunity to get involved by contributing to a variety of campus collections this month!
Elementary School - January 8-24, 2014
ES students are invited to participate in a drive for school supplies (pencils, markers, crayons, paper, coloring books, scissors, glue sticks, etc.).
 
Middle School - January 8-24, 2014
MS students are invited to participate in a drive for toiletries (toothpaste, toothbrushes, soap, shampoo, deodorant, nail polish, hair products, etc.).
 
High School - January 15-24, 2014
HS students are invited to participate in a drive for new/gently used clothes and shoes.

MS Family Fun Basketball

Girls Basketball

The Varsity Girls will play a league game at home on Friday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m. against Woodcrest Christian. On Monday, January 13 they will play again at home against Loma Linda at 6:00 p.m., and then on Wednesday, January 15 they will play at home against Calvary, also at 6:00 p.m.

 

Boys Basketball 

The JV team will play a league game at home against Woodcrest Christian on Friday, January 10 at 4:30 p.m. On Monday, January 13 they will play at home against Loma Linda at  4:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, January 15 they will play at home against Calvary, again at 4:30 p.m.

 

The Varsity Boys will play a league game at home against Woodcrest Christian on Friday, January 10 at 7:30 p.m. On Monday, January 13 they will play at home against Loma Linda at 7:30 p.m., and on Wednesday, January 15, they will play at home against Calvary at 7:30 p.m.

The girls will play a league game at home on Friday, January 10 at 4:00 p.m. On Monday, January 13 they will play at home against Loma Linda at 4:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, January 15, they will play at home against Calvary, again at 4:00 p.m.

 

Boys Soccer

JV Boys Soccer will play an away game at Loma Linda on Monday, January 13 at 4:00 p.m. 

 

The Varsity Boys will play a home league game against Woodcrest Christian on Friday, January 10 at 6:00 p.m. On Monday, January 13 they will play at home against Loma Linda at 6:00 p.m., and on Wednesday, January 15 they will play against Calvary at home at 6:00 p.m.

BEST SEATS IN THE HOUSE

The best seats in the gym at every Linfield Basketball home game can be yours for only $1.00! Enter the raffle before each game, and you could win seats on this couch (in addition to a snack bar voucher). Tickets will be sold in the Athletic Office and before all JV and Varsity Basketball games (separate raffles for JV Boys, Varsity Girls, and Varsity Boys), and the winner will be announced five minutes before each game. He/she must be present at the time of the drawing to win.

ACSI HONOR BAND

Choir-MusicCongratulations to the following MS Band students: Megan McKerahan (flute)Shaun Donley (tenor sax)Nathan Underwood (tenor sax)Cory Theel (trumpet), and Devyn Cope (percussion). They have been chosen by audition to participate in the ACSI MS Honor Band! This consists of a day and a half of intense group rehearsal, an afternoon of bowling, and the performance of a free concert for parents and friends at Lakewood Christian School on Friday, February 28

 

Congratulations also to Coco Chou (flute), Matthew Mattoon (oboe), Alec White (bassoon), and Andrew Li (tenor sax) who were chosen by audition to participate in the ACSI HS Honor Band! This will culminate in a concert with the MS Honor Band at Lakewood Christian School on Friday, February 28

ES SOUNDS OF SILENCE

Sounds of Silence is an after-school sign language program in which elementary students learn basic sign language skills, develop an awareness of the deaf culture, and participate in a class performance. The 12 week sessions will meet on Mondays and Tuesdays from 2:45-4:00 p.m. in Room 102, and the cost is $120. The Beginners session is for 2nd and 3rd graders and will be held on Mondays from January 27 - May 12; registration and fees are due by January 24. The Advanced session is for 4th and 5th grade students and will be held on Tuesdays from February 11 - May 6; registration and fees are due by February 3.

MS GEOGRAPHY BEE
Geography Bee

Congratulations to the finalists for this year's Middle School Geography Bee! The Finals will be held next Wednesday, January 15 in the gym at 10:25 a.m., and parents are welcome to attend. The following students will compete: Gio Cassaro, Isabelle Crisostomo, Samuel Han, Kenneth Hollingsworth, Jennifer Hook, Braden L'Heureux, Anthony Santoro, Chris Schulte, Cory Theel, and Jonathan Trujillo. MS BOOK FAIR
The Middle School will hold its first annual Book Fair from February 18-24, 2014. More details will be released soon, but please save the date and contact Mrs. Pat McGraw if you are willing to volunteer!
DR. B'S THIS IS LIFE CLASS

Dr. Bridget Melson (Dr. B), Linfield's Behavioral Support Specialist and HS Bible teacher, is the author of a 12-session workbook entitled This is Life, a guide intended to equip teens with the tools they need to be confident and successful, and she will be offering a This is Life class after school on Tuesdays (9th-11th grade girls) and Wednesdays (7th-8th grade girls) in the coming months. SPRING TEA COMMITTEE

Spring TeaWe are looking for freshman, sophomore, and junior moms to be a part of the Spring Tea Committee! The tea (Friday, April 25) is a long-held Linfield tradition at which we honor our seniors and their mothers, and serving on the committee is a wonderful way to get involved, meet new people, and earn parent participation hours. If you are interested in volunteering, please come to an informational meeting on Friday, January 17 at 8:30 a.m. in the Little Chapel, and if you have questions, please contact Marla Renno.

FINANCIAL AID INFO NIGHT
Senior Parents: The Counseling Office will hold a Financial Aid Information Night on January 16, 2014 at 6:00 p.m. in Room 112. Bring your FAFSA questions and be ready to receive updates on all the latest Financial Aid news. Don't forget that the FAFSA must be completed by March 2, and it is free. Please do not pay any other service to complete your paperwork; you must use the official government site - www.FAFSA.ed.gov.
INAUGURAL DIG VS CANDOR SOFTBALL GAME

SoftballPlease join us as the high school's Dig staff (Media Production) takes on Candor (Linfield's ASL Performance team) in the softball game of the year! This epic competition will take place on Thursday, January 16 from 11:20-2:00 p.m. out on the softball field. Bring a chair and money for hot dogs and come cheer on your favorite team!

JANUARY STUDENT OF THE MONTH

Congratulations to Will Campbell for being selected as the January 2014 High School Student of the Month! The Temecula Chamber of Commerce, city officials, and local sponsors support this event hosted by Sizzler Restaurant. The breakfast is even televised via tape delay through the local cable TV channel.
