The Christmas Candle
A couple months ago Linfield was blessed with the privilege of a visit from former PA Senator and presidential candidate Rick Santorum. The senator is passionate about supporting filmmakers within the faith community so that they can make a positive impact and be a light in the darkness of our culture, and he helped produce The Christmas Candle, a God-centered family movie which is currently showing for a limited time at the Edwards Theater in Temecula at the Promenade.

The film has been doing well since its release three weeks ago, but if it is to continue playing in Temecula, the theater needs to see a strong showing this weekend. So you're invited: please come out to see The Christmas Candle this weekend (December 14-15) and help support a film that clearly presents the true message of Christmas. We'll see you there!

MS OUTREACH

Last week twenty-five LCMS students went out into their neighborhoods to pray Scripture over the homes of their neighbors. Armed with over 400 unique handmade door-hangers (created by all the 7th and 8th graders), the students walked through neighborhoods in groups, stopping and praying for each household before leaving the specially designed prayer on the door. In Matthew 5:14 Jesus said, "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden," and it was such a blessing for our students to share the light of Christ with people in their own communities!

MEXICO HOUSE BUILD TRIP

We had an incredible response and sign-up for the Mexico House Build Trip scheduled for April 11-15, 2014! Our initial plan was to take 45 students, but after only a week we had over 70 students turn in signed permission slips and their $100 deposits! It has been awesome to see our students so excited about missions and the opportunity to serve! In response to these numbers, we have secured a larger lodging facility and are now able to take all of the students who have signed up. Praise God! With the increased numbers, we are now also committed to building TWO HOUSES!!! Our fundraising efforts are off to great start, but we could still use your help. If you are interested in finding out more about our trip and fundraising, please contact Amber Young at ayoung@linfield.com.
