Linfield Christian High School
Veteran's Day Assembly
Friday, November 8, 2013
Dear Linfield Family,
We are excited about an upcoming event on our HS campus, a chapel in the gym to commemorate Veteran's Day. Friday, November 11 is a day across the country, and in our own cities where parades and special ceremonies abound! Many of our honored guests must choose which celebration to attend. In order to alleviate that concern, we are honoring our veterans in a special assembly on:
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 8:55am - 10:20am
As a Christian school we desire to accomplish two significant goals on this day:
Goal 1:
Recognize and honor those who serve or have served as part of our Military
Goal 2:
Teach our students the significance of the celebration of Veteran's Day
Unfortunately, our gym/chapel space limits attendance to Middle School and High School ONLY. However, in an effort to do this "as a Linfield family", we are asking that you consider participating in this way:
ASSEMBLY ATTENDANCE & NAME RECOGNITION:
If you are a veteran, or have a family member you would like to honor, we would be honored to have them ATTEND the chapel, AND/OR DISPLAY their name on our scrolling tribute. If they are ABLE to attend, they are encouraged to attend in uniform if they so desire. We will have a special time of introduction as we welcome and honor them. We have reserved 30 seats in a designated section for this purpose. We ask that you RSVP by Friday, October 25th in order to help us plan for this special seating. Please arrive at the HS Gym in the Hall of Champions no later than 8:40am. If you want to honor a veteran who cannot attend, you may also send in the following information via email for the scrolling tribute (unfortunately, we are unable to include pictures) :
- Full Name
- Branch of the Military
- Rank / Job title
- Years of service / Special recognition for service (medals, etc.)
- Student relationship (Stephanie Bennett's uncle)
*Please submit all information no later than FRIDAY, OCTOBER 25 for consideration to gbennett@linfield.com.
Note: In an effort to not exclude anyone, if you have submitted information in prior years, please re-submit it so we can check for accuracy. Please attempt to include Rank if at all possible.
It is our desire to continue a tradition of honoring our veterans that will impact our students, and instill in them a gratitude for the freedoms they enjoy. Thank you in advance for your help and participation.
