Changing Schedules/Classes
The last day to change schedules is Friday, September 27. Any class changes must be approved by teacher, parent and counselor.

Senior Sessions
Starting September 18, we will begin Senior Sessions. This is a time when we meet with all of our seniors in a one-on-one meeting. During this time together, we meet to ensure students are clear on deadlines, develop and refine their college lists, and help them understand the entire college application process. (For Parents, please plan to attend our Senior Parent Information Night for specific college admission information.) |
|
Naviance
For our seniors, we are continuing to use Family Connection by Naviance. Each senior has an individual account that will provide them access to resources for colleges, careers, and skills based assessments. It is an incredible tool if students take advantage of it and use it to its full potential. We encourage you to have your student give you a 'tour'. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions. |

Mock SAT/ACT for Juniors
We will be offering a mock SAT/ACT Combo test on Saturday, October 5. This test will give your students experience in a testing environment and will give them an indication of how they will score on the SAT and ACT. We recommend that ALL juniors take this test. We can then use those scores to come up with an individual testing timeline for your student and to determine how much preparation (if any) your student will require. Sign-up forms will be available in the counseling office. The cost is $20 per student. |

PSAT/PLAN
The PSAT (grades 10-11) will be administered to all juniors and sophomores on Wednesday, October 16 during school. IMPORTANT: Please encourage your students to put forth their best effort on this exam. Test results will allow us to gauge areas of strengths and weakness in preparation for the SAT. For juniors, students will automatically be entered in the National Merit Scholarship Contest. For sophomores, this is an incredibly useful tool for helping us to plan for your student's testing timeline. For more information please see: http://www.collegeboard.com/student/testing/psat/about.html
The PLAN (grade 9) will be administered to all students on Wednesday, October 16 during school. The PLAN is the Pre-ACT and is a useful tool in determining readiness for the ACT and SAT. We will use this information during their junior year to create an individual testing timeline. For information on the PLAN Test, please see: http://www.actstudent.org/plan/

College Fairs
If your student's college of choice will not be visiting Linfield this year, perhaps you will have a chance to meet the rep at one of the college fairs that will be taking place in the area. We encourage all students to attend a college fair; it is a great way to meet reps from a variety of different schools.
Exploring College Options (www.exploringcollegeoptions.org). Listen to presentations from representatives from Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford. These informational presentations are for students and parents. Meetings will take place in Ontario on Wednesday, October 2 or in Palm Springs on Thursday, October 3. (Register online via their website).
We are pleased to tell you that the City of Temecula will be hosting a College and Vocational fair on Saturday, September 21, at the Promenade Mall in Temecula from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Representatives from over 160 colleges will be in attendance. We encourage all students and families to attend this event. http://temeculaevents.org/collegefair/
We are very excited to announce that the National Christian College Fair will be returning to Linfield this year! This fairorganized through The National Association of Christian College Admission Professionals (NACCAP) will be a great opportunity for students to meet representatives from Christian colleges around the country. The fair will be held in the Linfield Gym on Wednesday, October 16 from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Please click on http://nccf.us/ to see the list of schools attending and other dates/locations. This event is open to the entire community so please feel free to share the details with friends, family and churches. As we prepare for this event, we need a group of Parent volunteers to serve on the College Fair Committee. If you are interested in serving in this capacity, please e-mail counselingoffice@linfield.com and let us know of your interest. We will have a meeting in the coming weeks.
