We hope you have been enjoying a blessed summer with your family! The new school year is just around the corner, so Linfield News is back to bring you some important information.

Summer AssignmentsHS & MS SUMMER ASSIGNMENTS
HIGH SCHOOL
Most Linfield Christian High School AP Classes (as well as every level of English class) have required assignments which are to be completed during the summer break. Click here for all summer assignments.

 

MIDDLE SCHOOL

Incoming 6-8 grade students have required summer reading associated with their English courses for the fall. These books have been selected by English Department instructors to foster continued reading during summer break. Click here for all summer assignments.

HS & MS REGISTRATION
High School:
Below you will find the scheduled dates for your student to pick up a class schedule and textbooks, obtain locker assignments, pay for class and/or lab fees, and purchase P.E. clothes. Registration will take place in the HS building.
 
Due to the limited time before school starts, please make every effort to make your registration appointment. If necessary, you may have someone else register for you. If you have multiple high school students, you may register them at the same time, but please contact the high school office ahead of time to make special arrangements. 

 

Seniors - Tuesday, August 13              9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Juniors -  Wednesday, August 14        9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Sophomores - Thursday, August 15    9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

Freshmen - Friday, August 16              9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.

 

Course consumables and AP textbooks are only available for sale by ESCO Online. Please order quickly so that you will receive your materials before classes begin.

 

Middle School:

Below you will find the scheduled dates for your student to get textbooks, obtain locker assignments, and pick up P.E. clothes and locks. Class schedules will be handed out during the first week of school after Math and English assessments have been completed. Registration will take place in the MS quad.

 

Due to the limited time before school starts, please make every effort to make your registration appointment. If necessary, you may have someone else register for you. If you have multiple middle school students, you may register them at the same time, but please contact the middle school office ahead of time to make special arrangements.

 

Grade 6 - Mon., August 12          9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.,1:00-3:00 p.m.

Grade 7-8 - Tues., August 13      9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.,1:00-3:00 p.m.

Make-Ups - Wed., August 14      1:00-3:00 p.m.

TDAP BOOSTER SHOT

Students entering 7th grade in the 2013-2014 school year will be required to show proof of a Tdap booster shot to complete enrollment.

  • A Tdap, DTaP or DTP will be acceptable proof of current vaccine as long as it was received on or after the child's 7th birthday.

It is NOT too late to join the High School Cross Country, Football, Volleyball, or Girls Tennis teams. If you are interested in participating in these sports, please contact the High School Athletic Office for practice times and details.

FluteWe are excited about the elementary band program! Our instructors, Doug and Angie Knechtel, come with more than 30 years of experience in instrumental instruction and are looking forward to another excellent year of music at Linfield!  If you are interested in participating in one of our award-winning ensembles, please see this attached flyer for information and return the registration form by Friday, August 30, 2013.

PRAYER AT THE CROSS
Prayer at the CrossTuesday, August 27, 2013    8:05 am
Parents and friends are invited to the Linfield Administration lawn on the first day of school for a brief 15 minute time of prayer. We will gather around the cross to lift up to the Lord our school, our children, our families, and the new school year. We look forward to seeing you there!
ES PRINCIPAL COFFEES
ES Principal CoffeesES Parents: Special Principal's Coffees will be held on Thursday, August 29 (for parents of Grades 1-3 students) and on Friday, August 30 (for parents of Grades 4-5 students). Please join us in Room 104 at 8:15 a.m. each day to enjoy a cup of coffee and a conversation about the school year!  
  
MS PARENT ORIENTATION

MS Parent OrientationTuesday, August 13, 2013
6:00-8:15 p.m.
All parents of new and returning LCMS students are invited to meet the Middle School Faculty and receive beneficial information about the new school year at Parent Orientation on Tuesday, August 13. Please check-in at the MS Plaza (located downstairs near the Administration Building) and note that this event is for parents only; please do not bring students or siblings.

 

Parent Orientation will allow parents to:
· Meet faculty and staff
· Learn important information about the "nuts & bolts" of the MS program
· Receive important information about LCMS Athletics
· Enjoy fellowship and refreshments with new and returning parents
· Receive 2 hours parent participation credit per family

INTERNATIONAL NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION

August 12-14, 2013

To our new international students and families: welcome to Linfield! We have planned a mandatory three day orientation (for new international students only) to help you prepare for a successful school year. Click here for the orientation schedule and please note the specific times and special notes which instruct students as to what needs to be completed. This orientation is very important for the initial success of our students, and we look forward to seeing you there!

HS CONSUMABLES & TEXTBOOK SOURCE FOR 2013-2014

ESCO BookstoreLinfield has teamed with ESCO to make purchasing your high school consumable workbooks, lab manuals, and AP Textbooks easy and convenient.

 

Please visit the online bookstore (the link is also available on Linfield.com's Parent Resources page) and see a list of workbooks, textbooks, and novels that are required for your high school courses. Items purchased from ESCO will be shipped directly to your home.

 

Course consumables will no longer be sold at school, and we have made all AP materials available in one convenient location. Contact Mrs. McGraw for more information.

Freshmen and New Student Orientation

6:00-10:00 p.m. in the Gym

 

The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one, but all students who are new to Linfield are encouraged to come! Seniors, juniors and sophomores will be serving as leaders and mentors to the freshmen and new students. Large and small group activities are designed to address students' needs and concerns in a fun-filled environment...one that involves food! Students: wear comfortable clothes and travel light.

There is a special meeting for freshman/new parents on August 16 (during the LINK Crew event) in the Administration Prayer Garden. Don't miss this opportunity to hear from several freshman teachers and some of our administrators. They will be sharing information on what to expect during the school year and how we can partner together to make this first year of high school successful.
HS SENIOR PORTRAITS
Senior PortraitsAttention Seniors: Lifetouch Prestige Portraits has already completed their official portrait session on campus. If you have not had your yearbook picture taken, please contact Lifetouch directly at (951) 520-4740 or (800) 682-7600. Remember: ONLY portraits from Lifetouch Prestige Portraits will be used in the yearbook.
HS PICTURE DAY
CameraAugust 27, 2013 
High School pictures will be taken by Lifetouch on the first day of school, Tuesday, August 27. Students are required to wear their uniforms, and there will be a variety of backgrounds from which to choose. If you wish to purchase pictures, please have a completed order form with payment on picture day (order forms will be handed out at registration). Even if you choose not to purchase pictures, students are still required to have their pictures taken at this time for the yearbook and their student ID cards (senior pictures are for student ID cards only).
