Do you have a daughter who loves science and math?
Is she interested in exploring options in STEM careers? Design Connect Create is an immersive hands on experience for young women to explore and have fun with physics. Students form a deep understanding and build confidence to move forward in science knowing they will be successful. Labs, guest speakers, interactive problem solving and engineering challenges fill our day as we explore topics in physics and engineering. This physics camp is open to girls taking any AP Physics course for the first time next year. The FWISD site for the camp is Paschal High School from June 6 - 17. Check out their website for more information or email Linda Antinone, the Paschal Mathematics Department Chair and AP Physics teacher at this address linda.antinone@fwisd.org.

NORTHWEST STUDENT EXCHANGE PROGRAM SEEKING HOST FAMILIES FOR 2016-17 SCHOOL YEAR
Foreign exchange students for the 2016-2017 school year are in need of kind and loving families here in Fort Worth. Would your family like to host a student who would attend Paschal High School? Exchange students come from all over the world - Switzerland, Italy, Spain, The Netherlands, China, Japan and more! Host families like yours are needed to provide safe, loving homes to our students.
You would supply:
A bed (sharing a room with a same sex sibling is fine)
Three meals a day
Transportation to/from school and activities (sports, church, doctors)
Exchange students have insurance, speak English, have strong grades and bring their own money to cover their expenses. They arrive in August and stay until school concludes in June.
We encourage you to also involve your family, friends and neighbors to help take them places. Once the student arrives, they will make friends easily through clubs, sports and church. NWSE offers trips for them to participate in, if they would like to do so.
If you would like to host...check out the online application here.
You will need to upload 5 photos with your application:
1. Front of house in daytime
2. Kitchen
3. Bath
4, Students bedroom (showing bed)
5. Students bathroom (showing toilet)
If you have extra room and would love to explore another culture, consider hosting an exchange student!
Bring the world into your home and community by hosting an exchange student with Academic Year in America. Each year, Academic Year in America (AYA) brings more than 1,000 international students ages 15-18 to communities all over the United States. These students become a true member of your family, learning your traditions while sharing their customs and culture with you.
AYA is a not-for-profit organization designated by the U.S. Department of State to offer visas to international students. AYA allows host families the unique opportunity to choose a screened student who will best fit in their family. Students arrive from more than 50 countries including Germany, Brazil and South Korea. Host families can welcome their new family member for a semester, full school year or for a welcoming period. Host families must also provide their student with two meals a day and a place to sleep and study. To help facilitate the exchange, host families receive assistance from an AYA local coordinator and 24/7 support from the national office.
We hope you'll join us in bringing a little more of the world to Fort Worth!
To learn more about hosting with AYA, contact Fort Worth Local Coordinator Lauren Ruth at 817-369-8337 or laureneruth@gmail.com. Visit the AYA website at www.academicyear.org.

On behalf of Algebra 1, I would like to thank you and the PTA for providing, pretzels, apples, oranges, brownies and the gift cards to Subway and iTunes. It is a big deal to get over 90 students to come in on a weekend, for Algebra tutoring no less, and your snacks and prizes really helped to get them here!
