GO PANTHERS!

Do you have a daughter who loves science and math?

Is she interested in exploring options in STEM careers?  Design Connect Create is an immersive hands on experience for young women to explore and have fun with physics. Students form a deep understanding and build confidence to move forward in science knowing they will be successful. Labs, guest speakers, interactive problem solving and engineering challenges fill our day as we explore topics in physics and engineering. This physics camp is open to girls taking any AP Physics course for the first time next year.  The FWISD site for the camp is Paschal High School from June 6 - 17.  Check out their website for more information or email Linda Antinone, the Paschal Mathematics Department Chair and AP Physics teacher at this address linda.antinone@fwisd.org.

How to Improve Student Performance by Helping Them Discover Their Interests

Ask most students, high school and college, "What do you want to do for a career?"  Most shrug their shoulders.  The average college student changes majors three times and only 59% of all entering college students get a degree within six years.

Paschal High School has a site license for the Sigi3 Assessment program which is FREE to all Paschal students.  It has been in use in the AVID program since 2011 and has provided new insights and guidance for career and college major selection to the AVID students.  All students can benefit from this program even if a 4-year college degree is not their objective.  Sigi3 also lists hundreds of trade related Certificate and Associate Degree programs.  Few people can be expected to reach their greatest potential without some post-high school training or education.

The assessment results reveal sub-conscious interests, values, skills, and personality traits that most students are completely unaware of.  Students who discover their deep-seated interests are more motivated in school and make more insightful choices for college majors and/or career training.  Better early career choices result in faster employment advancement, higher incomes, and a greater sense of personal fulfillment throughout life.

The student invests one to three hours and the benefits last for a lifetime.

To take advantage of this program students signup for FREE at the GO Center in room 251 with Katrina Thompson.

Sigi3 is sponsored for Paschal by the PHS Educational Foundation, www.phseducationalfoundation.org.
