News from the Advanced Academic Office

 

AP testing began on Monday, May 5 

and will run through Friday, May 16. 

Here is some important information: 

  • Exams will be held at the following locations, please refer to the schedule:
    • PDC
    • PHS girl's gym
    • UCC
  • Morning Exams:
    • Students MUST be at the door ready to enter by 7:30 a.m.
  • Afternoon Exams:
    • Students MUST be at the door ready to enter by 11:30 a.m.
  • Students taking morning exams must be back on campus for 6th and 7th periods
  • Students taking afternoon exams will attend periods 1 and 2, check in with their period 3 teacher, then go to lunch and then report to testing site by 11:30 a.m.
  • Students MUST have a picture I.D.
  • Students MUST bring sharpened pencils and black/blue pens
  • We encourage students to NOT bring in a cell phone or other electronic devices
    • If they do however, the devices must be turned off and stored where the testing coordinators instruct
  • Testing sites can be chilly so dress appropriately or bring a sweater
 
 
SAT/PSAT Summer Course
Registration is well underway for the summer course. 
We offer 3 two week sessions. 
Plenty of room for each session is still available.

Countdown to College
If you are a junior and want to work on your college essays, this is the course for you. You will also discuss FAFSA and scholarship opportunities. This course is taught by Dr. Paula Tyler and Dr. Teri Blaisdell.

SAT Boot Camp for Juniors
  • Juniors planning to take the SAT in October?
  • Need to raise your score to impress the schools you are interested in? 
  • Want time to work on specific skills?
If you answered "YES" to any of these questions, consider taking the new SAT Boot Camp this summer. This course is designed to target specific areas you need to improve. 

The SAT Boot Camp runs from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. 
The classroom is a small setting and will be taught by Dr. Teri Blaisdell and Libby Gann, both are educators and have extensive SAT preparation experience.

National Honor Society News

 

Invitation lists for National Honor Society for rising seniors (class of 2015) are posted around the building.

Invited students need to pick up their invitation packets as soon as possible in room 203.

Signed commitment forms, $5.00 dues, and officer nominations are all due by Friday, May 23;

the commitments and dues must be turned in at the same time. 

The first chapter meeting for the class of 2015 will be on Friday, May 23, at 8:10 or 3:40 in room 204.

Officer elections will be held in room 203 on Tuesday, May 27 from 8:00-8:30, passing periods, period 7 (for members with conflicts before and after school),

or from 3:35-4:00.

Only members who have turned in their dues and commitments may vote or run for office.

We look forward to a great year with the class of 2015!

Next fall we will be inviting the rising juniors (class of 2016) - more about that later.
