SAT

Juniors have the opportunity to take a free SAT during the school day on February 26. If you have not already done so, go to www.collegeboard.com and set up an account. If you are prompted that you already have an account it is probably because you were a DUKE TIP tester (in the 7th grade) and you will have to contact collegeboard and get your user name and password.

Registration for the free SAT opened December 11th.  The voucher (and directions for registering) for the free SAT were distributed during the JUNIOR meeting on Friday, December 13. If you need the directions for the online registration click here. You need to be registered by the time you return to school February 11.

We will be having a review for the junior SAT.  The date is Saturday, February 15.  Students must register and the cost is $25.00.  Come by room 231 for a registration form.

The Paschal Vagabond Theatre Troup will be presenting "Connections." A show which examines
the changes in our society' ways of communicating with one another {from person to person to digital, cell phones, internet, etc.}.

The dates for the shows are:

Feb. 7th-9th as well as the 14th-16th.

The show times are:

7:30-9:30 p.m. on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays

There are matinees on Saturdays from 2:30 - 4:30 p.m.

PHS Band News

CONGRATULATIONS TO HAYLEE!

Haylee earned a 1st Place finish in Pageant at her twirling contest last weekend.

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR VARSITY WINTERGUARD!

Our Varsity Winterguard earned a 3rd Place finish out of 13 groups in their division on Saturday. They were only 1 point from 2nd place, as well. This was a particularly impressive finish due to the fact that they were the first to perform in their class on Saturday. Way to go PHS Winterguard!

Our JV group has their first contest of the season on Friday night at Aledo HS. Thanks to Gary Locke and Mattias Scott for all of their effort and word with both guards, as well.

SECTIONALS FOR WIND ENSEMBLE & SYMPHONIC BAND

Members of the Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band should be attending their weekly sectional rehearsal times. Each section is meeting one a week before or after school.  Students earn a performance (test) grade during each sectional rehearsal.

CHAPERONES NEEDED FOR BASS HALL TRIP

We are looking for at least 10 chaperones to travel with us to Bass Hall on Tuesday, Feb 4. We will depart for Bass Hall at 11:30 AM and will return to PHS at 1:45 PM. Please contact Mr. Wright if you are available and keep an eye out for a My Sign-up link on our website.

PIANO ACCOMPANIST REHEARSALS BEGIN IN FEBRUARY

In preparation for the UIL Solo & Ensemble Contest at Crowley HS on Saturday, Feb. 22, we are coordinating piano accompanist rehearsals before school and during class during the first three weeks of February. Almost all solos require a piano accompanist. For students using a school-coordinated accompanist, payment ($40) needs to be made directly to the accompanist at the first rehearsal.  If a student has not paid prior to the 2nd rehearsal, the student will not be allowed to have the 2nd rehearsal. The $40 payment covers two rehearsals and the contest. If a student is finding their own accompanist, he/she needs to make that known to the band directors ASAP. Schedules will be posted ASAP this week so that students will know who their accompanist is and when they will be rehearsing.
