Dear PTA Members:

The 83rd Legislative Session began last week. It is imperative that we all stay abreast of the happenings in Austin and make our voices heard.

To help our students and schools, you can quickly:

1.Sign up to receive legislative email notices: http://www.txpta.org/legislative

2. Find out the names and contact information of your representatives:

http://www.senate.state.tx.us/75r/senate/members.htm

Just scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your address to get your reps' names and contact info.

3. Call or email both your State Rep and State Senator's office and say:

  • you are a PTA member and have children at Fort Worth public schools;
  • and that you support funding public education and oppose private school vouchers.

Please do this action today. Pass this email to anyone who is concerned about public education funding.

Did you know Paschal graduation is 131 days away?  It's not too early to begin thinking about graduation announcements to send to family, friends and relatives.

Here is a way to order your creative graduation announcements and make money for senior celebration! It is really easy. Simply follow the link to the website to create your custom graduation announcement featuring your son or daughter's pictures. Mike Merritt will give Senior Celebration 20% of the proceeds from your order. The amount donated to schools is usually 10%, but Mike, as a Paschal dad, is donating more to us.

You may also save 20% on your order with the coupon code PSPRINTS. When you are placing your order use code FW99 for the additional 20% to go to Senior Celebration!

Remember, Senior Celebration provides an all-night, alcohol- and drug-free party immediately following Paschal graduation. This year the party will be held at Main Event in Fort Worth on Thursday, June 6. Games, prizes and snacks will be provided for your child. This is a very popular, well attended Senior-only event and with your help we can make it a great memory for the Senior Class of 2013.

Now, remember to go to the website to place your order for graduation announcements! And don't forget to join us at Cousin's BBQ on Tues., Jan. 29, to support the Celebration...

Paschal Choir News
On Saturday, Jan. 12, three young men from the Paschal A Capella choir travelled to Midland for the final round of the TMEA (Texas Music Educators Association) auditions. TMEA is an organization of more than 10,000 school music educators dedicated to promoting excellence in music education.

All-State is the highest honor a Texas music student can receive. Some 1,500 students are selected through a process that begins with more than 55,000 students from around the state vying for this honor to perform in one of 13 ensembles (bands, orchestras, and choirs). This competitive process begins throughout the state in auditions hosted by 28 TMEA Regions.

Individual musicians perform selected music for a panel of judges who rank each instrument or voice part. From this ranking, a select group of musicians advances from their Region to compete against musicians from other Regions in seven TMEA-area competitions.

The highest-ranking musicians judged at the TMEA Area competitions qualify to perform in a TMEA All-State music group. These All-State students participate in three days of rehearsals directed by nationally recognized conductors during the annual state TMEA Clinic/Convention. Their performances before thousands of attendees bring this extraordinary event to a close.

Here are our results:

John Roberts, junior, made second chair Bass 2 in the All-State Mixed Choir.

Wellington Owen, sophomore, made sixth chair Bass 1 in the All-State Men's Choir.

Parker Farnell, junior, made 2nd alternate Tenor 2 in the All-State Men's Choir.

Congratulations to John, Wellington & Parker!
