From PTA President Debra Million
Welcome back, everyone, to Finals Week. Looks like it's time to get serious about school again. It's also time for New Year resolutions. I have made a few fairly reasonable ones. I also have one for all of us to consider. Would you make a resolution to support our school by attending the "Lucky 13" Paschal Silent Auction and Dinner, Saturday, Feb. 9, at The Cendera Center?
The Silent Auction is the PTA's biggest fundraiser of the year and benefits every student at Paschal. Auction chairs Tisha Phillips and Cammie Nowell, along with their dedicated committee, have been working hard to make the 13th Auction truly memorable. You will find many great items on which to bid, plus parties with other Paschal parents, as well as the always entertaining live Auction. Invitations should be in your mailbox any day now. So, fulfill the suggested New Year's goal by filling out the response card and joining other parents at the Auction!
That's a resolution worth keeping. I look forward to meeting and seeing you at our Silent Auction Feb. 9.
Finals Are This Week!
First Semester finals are this week, on Jan. 15-17. (Monday, Jan. 14, is a regular school day.) For a complete schedule go here. Remember, Honors, Pre-AP and AP class finals count for 25 percent of your student's grade. On-level class finals count for 10 percent of your student's grade.
Note: There is NO SCHOOL on Friday, Jan. 18.
Spring Open House, PTA General Meeting Jan. 28
The Spring Open House is an important event for all PHS parents and students. Parents can learn and understand about all the upcoming tests this semester as well as meet teachers for any new classes their students are taking. It's also a PTA General Membership meeting with important voting scheduled.

Make it a Date: Feb. 9 PHS Auction & Dinner
Plan to help celebrate Paschal High School's "Lucky 13"
Auction and Dinner on Feb. 9. The annual auction and dinner will be held at the Cendera Center on Benbrook Highway. We will have yummy Mexican food, great entertainment and tons of creative, fun items and trips to bid on. Feel like going to beautiful Costa Rica? How about a fun party for parents only at The Oui? Who likes the Horned Frogs, Longhorns, Cowboys, Rangers or the Mavs? There will even be a Dirk Nowitski autographed jersey! Bid on a package to eat your way down Magnolia Street! There are great packages from restaurants, home goods, jewelry, clothing, gardening, museums and much more! Favorites like the "Wine Pull" and "Split the Pot" are back. Are you feeling lucky yet?
This is the PTA's largest fundraiser for the year and there are so many needs, including a Language Lab, a Living Lab, microscopes for Science, field trips, new clean bathrooms and teacher supplies just to name a few.
Please spread the word and invite your friends, maybe get a table together. This is an awesome party with a purpose so we hope to see you there! Check the PHS website often for updates and watch for your invitation, coming soon!
Clay Shoot March 24; Big Band Dance April 26

Toys for Tots Drive Results
Many thanks to all the students, teachers, staff and administrators who made the PHS toy drive such a success. There were 549 toys collected for the Marines' Toys for Tots program, which helped to make a happier holiday for many needy children. Special thanks to the organizations that made signs for the drive (particularly the Advertising Club and NHS); JROTC for all the work in gathering toys and preparing them for pick up; and Coach Dokie Reyes and her students and athletes who had the highest number of toys from a specific classroom. |
