Library Dedication Ceremony Held Sunday

 Hamilton Library dedication   

For all that he has done and continues to do for the students and the faculty and staff throughout FWISD, Paschal High School gratefully named and dedicated its library on Sunday, Nov. 4, to honor John Hamilton, teacher, visionary and mentor. John originated the position of Academic Coordinator for FWISD and served in that capacity at Paschal since 1984.  After retirement in 2007 he returned to Paschal part time. Wondering about PSAT Results?

Juniors: You will be receiving your results in December. You will be notified at school as soon as they are ready for distribution.

9th-10th Grade: You and your family will receive your results at the PSAT Parent meeting on Jan. 9, 2013, at 6 p.m. in the Ralph Miller Auditorium.

 

8th Grade Round-Up Coming Soon!

Parents, mark your calendars for the annual 8th Grade Round-Up, when next year's incoming freshmen can get a chance to preview all things Paschal. The program is from 6-8 p.m. on Dec. 17 at PHS in the Ralph Miller Auditorium.

 

PHS Educational Foundation Established

The mission of the PHS Educational Foundation is to help close the educational opportunity gap for under-served Paschal High School students.The opportunity gap is closed through mentoring and tutoring students, providing speakers from various professions to broaden the students' career perspectives, by providing computers and related devices to better equip students to meet their high school and college educational objectives, and by supporting the AVID teachers and program as needed. Reflections Deadline Is Nov. 15 

Paschal PTA is seeking entries for the National PTA Reflections Art Contest.  The theme this year is "The Magic of a Moment".  New pieces of artwork inspired by the theme may be submitted by students by the Nov. 15 deadline. There are six arts categories:  dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography and visual arts.  Please see Victoria Peloubet in Room 238 or contact Deborah Killian (817-789-2735, [email protected]) for further details. The registration form is here 

 

Panthers Dominate All-Region Orchestra Selections

PHS had 49 Paschal Orchestra students audition for the All-Region Orchestra Oct. 20. Out of 59 violins auditioning, Paschal had 13 of the 24 selected. Out of 22 violas auditioning, Paschal had three of the eight selected and both alternates; of 24 cellos auditioning, Paschal had five of the eight selected; and of the nine basses auditioning, Paschal had two of the six selected and one of the alternates. Other Orchestra/Mariachi News: The mariachi will be traveling to the Las Cruces International Mariachi Conference, Nov. 14-18.  They will attend classes daily and will perform a concert on the Nov. 17.  All classes will be taught by members of Mariachi Cobre.

The orchestra will have a holiday wreath fundraiser through Nov. 9. These wreaths are shipped from Minnesota and are a wonderful addition to your holiday decor. They will be delivered Dec. 3.  Click here for the order form; all orders must be paid in advance.

 

Way to Go, Panther Marching Band! Great Job at Area!

Congratulations to the Mighty Panther Marching Band on a great performance Saturday, Oct. 27, at Area UIL. Although we weren't selected for finals, the band staff is extremely proud of the students' performance. Their goal for this contest was to have their very best performance of the year, and the band received many genuine compliments from other band directors. Thanks to all of the wonderful parents who volunteered their time on Saturday to chaperone, move equipment and cheer on the Paschal Band as well!

 

Don't Forget! Gift Market is Coming: Sat., Nov. 17 

This year's Gift Market is getting even better! The Band Boosters have a challenge and need your help! The band's Bake Sale Booth at the Gift Market will have "Quality Homemade Desserts" (non-store bought or slice & bake) single items. There will not be a Taste-Off, but Culinary Arts Judge will decide the prettiest holiday desserts. Two prizes to PTA or other PHS Club bakers will be awarded!

 

Beauty Winner 1st Place: receives a $50 Certificate to Magnolia's (on the Southside) newest venue, BREWED

 

2nd Place: best-looking pie, cake, Bundt or Christmas specialty dessert gets a $25 Certificate to BREWED

 

Consider the presentation: dish, tin, plate, shape, appearance, icing, decoration, etc. Your entry needs to be covered and serving dish cannot be returned. Entry contact information needs to be attached to the goodie. Yes, Grandmas and Favorite Aunts may participate.

 

PTA, we need your help to make this Bake Sale Great!

*Park for Paschal: On TCU home football games, the Paschal Booster Club is selling PHS parking spots, effective three hours before and one hour after game time. Please consider carpooling to PHS events on these days. Check the PHS website closer to game days for exact hours.

 

Theatre News

Theatre Arts and The PHS Vagabond Players present "Midsummer Night's Dream." The play opened last week and will run Nov. 8, 9 & 10. Performances start at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased at the door 30 minutes prior to performance. 

$5 - Students and ISD Staff; $8 - General Admission

 

 JROTC News

The JROTC program will have two events on Sat., Nov. 10.  The majority of the cadets will be marching downtown in the Veterans Day Parade (starts at 10:15 am) and 25 cadets will be working at our concessions stand at the TCU vs Kansas State game.  Also, we will be participating in numerous other Veterans Day celebrations throughout the district next week.

Senior News

Don't forget to call Glamourcraft at 817-292-8989 to schedule your appointment to have your photo made to be in the senior section of the 2013 yearbook. The deadline to have your photo taken is Dec. 7 and appointment times are filling up fast!
