Dear MAWS Members,

This is your second opportunity to comment on the Birth Assistant Sunrise. We are inviting you to continue to provide comments on this proposal until August 14, 2015 at 5:00 PM. The proposal documents are posted on the DOH 2015 Pending Sunrise Review page. In addition, I have attached a few items that are not yet posted on the web page:

- Written comments received so far on this proposal.

- Additional information provided by the applicant.

- Applicant responses to questions the department asked on the original applicant report. This information is also posted to the web page, but is missing some additional follow up that we are including on the attached document.

Your next opportunity for comment will be once we release the draft report around early September. We will provide an opportunity at that time for suggested corrections or rebuttals to our draft recommendations.

Midwifery Advisory Committee

The Department of Health is accepting applications for one vacancy on the Midwifery Advisory Committee as follows:

* One licensed midwife.

The department is looking for public-spirited individuals willing to study the issues and to make recommendations in the best interest of the public. We seek diversity in our committee members and recognize the value diversity brings in understanding and serving the people of Washington State. The Department encourages member selection to reflect diversity and provide geographic representation from throughout the state.

The Midwifery Advisory Committee meets four (4) times a year. The Midwifery Advisory Committee advises and makes recommendations to the Secretary of Health on issues related to licensed midwives. Topics that may be discussed include but are not limited to updating rules for application, examination, school approval and reinstatement of midwives.
