New team-teaching model improves kindergarten readiness
Entering a school setting for the first time can be hard on all children, regardless of their level of development. That transition can be even more challenging when a child has an unidentified need.
Throughout the past year, thanks to a $25,000 grant from the Opus Foundation, St. David's Center piloted a new teaching team structure that aims to earlier identify children who are struggling with transition, and provide more resources to help them succeed.

Featured Donor:
A generous
case of mistaken identity |
|
If any of you have ever attempted to Google search St. David's Center online, you likely know that we share a name with a medical center in
Austin, Texas. On occasion we have
individuals contact us wishing to volunteer or set up an appointment at the Texas hospital and redirect them to the doctors and staff there.
However, a recent mix-up turned into much more than a redial.

Annual Golf Tournament
drives in success |
|
Through spurts of rain and record-low temperatures on July 14, more than 100 golfers took on Minnesota's toughest course...and helped us Build Our Children's Future in the process.
Our Tee Up for Tomorrow Golf Tournament raised nearly $100,000 with sponsorships, silent auction proceeds and fund-a-need donations combined.
It is with our deepest gratitude that we thank John and Candace Randle for co-presenting this important event with the Minnesota Vikings for a second year.
Vikings alumni Joey Browner, "Benchwarmer" Bob Lurtsema and Stu Voigt took first place, and current Vikings Chad Greenway and Adam Thielen along with Ben Leber and Mox Gunderson made up the second place foursome.

Must-dos for families before the sun sets on summer
With just three weeks to go, you can feel the excitement for the upcoming school year building within both you and your child. Each new fall brings a new chapter to your lives, but often some regret about leaving summer behind as well. While your kids may be dreading earlier bedtimes and the end of swimming pool season, you're likely sentimental that this is the last summer you'll have with them as a 2-, 3-, 4- or 5-year-old.
To help with the transition, St. David's Center staff offer tips on how you can make the most of the remainder of the season. Read more. |
