The Scoop on DC Living

Notes for a Perfect Fall

Where did the year go?! As we enter the last three months of 2014, it is a wonderful time to dust up and clean house. That means:
  • Schedule bi-annual service for HVAC. In my experience, it is always better to schedule maintenance for preventive measures than to interrupt everything for a furnace emergency.
  • Get the chimney swept to ensure the fire stays where it belongs: in your fireplace!
  • Clean rain gutters and downspouts. One clogged downspout can create water damage the interior of a home and create a long laundry list of problems through seepage into exterior walls and the foundation of the house.
  • Trim and mulch your exterior to protect plants and prolong their lives.
  • Fall Back! An early reminder to set the clocks and watches back by one hour at bedtime November 1st in observance of the return to Standard Time.
  • Shred and recycle old documents and electronics. McEnearney Associates' DC Office is hosting a free shred and recycle event October 25th. CLICK HERE FOR MORE DETAILS!

If information is power, I'd like to make you the most powerful consumer on the real estate market.

Not Another Presidential Motorcade!

Washingtonians may have a frustrating relationship with gridlock, but there's little that brings a commute to a screeching halt quite like a motorcade for a dignitary - of which there are many in our fine city.

Still, when it comes to a presidential motorcade - to offer some perspective to a maddening commute - we Washingtonians often have a front row seat to watch POTUS on the move. And, P.S., he IS the leader of the free world.

Personally, I always find it to be a treat ...even if it makes me late.
