| In My Own Words
   by Thom Miller

I'd like to tell you my cancer story to illustrate how my life might have been different if I had access to a Gilda's Club in the Twin Cities during my cancer journey.

Fourteen years ago I was a 35-year-old healthy guy, amateur athlete with a wonderful wife who was three months pregnant. Life was good.

Then one day I noticed this lump in the left lower side of my abdomen--I just assumed I had pulled a muscle, tendon or something. I had an x-ray and it didn't show anything suspicious so I treated it as an injury that would just take time to heal. Read More >

The Clubhouse "Walls Came Down"
Clubhouse 1/11/2013 volunteer
Friday, January 11, a Gilda's Club team of committed volunteers and donors spent the day getting dirty and having fun while taking down walls, pulling up carpet, tearing out ceiling tiles and getting the building ready for remodeling.

KARE11 was there documenting the event, as they will be doing periodically during the demolition and reconstruction. What a wonderful piece of history that will be!

Everyone had a blast; it was so exciting to be a part of the action actually getting the ball rolling. To view a few pictures of the fun  Click Here >

Sara Adams
Sara joined GCTC January 2 as executive assistant to Michelle Silverman. As a training supervisor for the director of security at Seagate, she wore several hats and multi-tasked everyday, making her a perfect fit for GCTC.

Sara shared, "I'm so excited to join Gilda's Club and be part of the team to open our doors. As a person whose life has been touched by cancer, I am passionate about our mission. My mother is a 10-year cancer survivor and I know what a Gilda's Club would have meant to her-and me."

Committed to Gilda Radner in Both Name and Spirit
Our affiliate, Gilda's Club Madison, announced in late November that it was changing its name to the Cancer Support Community Southwest Wisconsin.

We, however, have no intention of changing our name and will continue to operate as Gilda's Club Twin Cities.

We look forward to opening our clubhouse door in the coming year to honor Gilda Radner's dream that "no one face cancer alone."
