Your Votes Support HHLT's Environmental Education Program--www.pigdifference.org/votenow
HHLT's River of Words environmental education program has been selected as one of four projects to participate in a grant competition. To secure the $3,000 we have requested, our project needs to garner the most online votes by April 20th. The funding will support our involvement in the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation's "A Day in the Life of the Hudson River," a citizen-science program geared for students.

Please vote for HHLT's project.
You can vote every 24 hours on each internet-connected device you have access to (computer, iPad, smartphone, etc.) at www.pigdifference.org/votenow. The organization whose project has the most votes on April 20th will receive full funding. It takes seconds to do each day, and we hope you will join us in this effort.

Thank you!
HHLT and Conservation Partners Protect Farm in East Fishkill
HHLT is proud to partner with Dutchess Land Conservancy and Scenic Hudson to permanently protect the Manne Farm in East Fishkill through Dutchess County's Partnership for Manageable Growth Program (PMG).

The 38-acre Manne Farm, farmed by the Jackson family for many years, is located at the intersection of Interstate 84 and the Taconic Parkway, a highly visible symbol of Dutchess County's agricultural and natural heritage.

In total, six Dutchess County farms have been permanently protected through partnerships with conservation organizations and the use of PMG funding. County Executive Marc Molinaro explained, "Farming played such an important role in Dutchess County's past, and it will play a vital part in our future; and we must do all we can to promote it."

NY's Environmental Protection Fund Receives Historic Funding
HHLT joins a broad coalition of conservation, business and recreation groups in commending Governor Andrew Cuomo and the New York State Legislature for providing historic funding for the Environmental Protection Fund (EPF) in this year's budget.

This investment of $300 million
is an incredible victory for conservation, business, agriculture, recreation and communities. It enhances the state's ability to leverage federal, local, and private dollars, and allows the state to better meet current demands and implement critical programs. A 2012 study by the Trust for Public Land showed that for every $1 invested in land and water conservation through the EPF, New York State receives $7 in economic benefit.

The EPF supports farmland conservation, state parklands expansion, waterfront rehabilitation and construction, water quality improvement initiatives, and programs that enhance the ability of the public to access lands and waters for fishing, boating and other recreational activities.

For more information on the EPF, visit http://www.keepprotectingny.com/.

Glynwood and Putnam County Present Farmlink Network Workshop, Apr. 28

Workshop attendees will learn how to work with the Network and its Hudson Valley Farmland Finder website, and assess the agricultural possibilities of their property for the purpose of facilitating matchmaking with farmland seekers.
