Hudson Highlands Nature Museum Hosts HHLT's River of Words Poetry Trail
Student poets will be celebrated for their creativity at the River of Words Poetry Trail at the Hudson Highlands Nature Museum's Outdoor Discovery Center in Cornwall, from September 20 through November 15.

The River of Words Poetry Trail is a series of eight unique, temporary installations, displaying nature-inspired poems by local students from both sides of the Hudson River, winding through the Outdoor Discovery Center at Kenridge Farm. The Poetry Trail self-guided tour is free and open to the public from dawn to dusk.

The Poetry Trail has been made available through grants from Central Hudson Gas and Electric, the Educational Foundation of America, the Malcolm Gordon Charitable Trust, RBC Blue Water Project and The Vidda Foundation.

For more information about HHLT's River of Words program, please visit www.hhltrow.org or email Program Coordinator Elise LaRocco.
HHLT's Toast the Highlands Cocktail Benefit at Rockefeller Center Celebrates the Future
At HHLT's Autumn Cocktail Benefit on Wednesday evening, more than 130 guests, board members, conservation partners and community leaders gathered to Toast the Highlands at the Land Trust's annual fundraiser. The event took place at 620 Loft and Garden in the iconic Rockefeller Center complex. Guests enjoyed cocktails and hors d'oeuvres in the rooftop garden while looking out at St. Patrick's Cathedral and other midtown landmarks.

During the event, current HHLT Vice-Chair Nancy Berner was named as Board Chair, starting in October. Outgoing Chair Chris Davis introduced Nancy, noting that her passion for the Land Trust's mission and the communities it serves makes her the ideal person to lead the organization now and into the future. Chris will continue to serve as a director of the Land Trust. A resident of Cold Spring, Nancy joined the Land Trust's board in 1999, overseeing many of the organization's outreach efforts, including the launch of the River of Words environmental education program in 2008.

HHLT is so grateful to all of our members and friends who supported this wonderful evening, toasting the achievements of the past and celebrating the prospect of a bright future.

Visit Collaborative Concepts Art Exhibit at Saunders Farm through Oct. 31
Over 70 artists have assembled animal-friendly sculptures at Saunders Farm in Garrison to complement the surrounding landscapes for the 10th anniversary of the Collaborative Concepts exhibition. Saunders Farm is protected by conservation agreements held by HHLT and Open Space Institute.

"It's a wonderful creative extravaganza for the locals," says Sarah Haviland, board member and participating artist since 2006.

All installations at Saunders Farm are temporary and many sculptures are for sale. To protect the farm's cows and horses, artists are forbidden from using cables, holes or sharp edges in their work.

For more information, visit Collaborative Concepts' website. The exhibit is open through Saturday, October 31, with a midrun reception on October 3. Visitors are welcome from 10:00am to dusk.
