Dear Neighbor,
We celebrated another year of success and growth at our Annual Meeting. We were so successful because we didn't do it alone! Each of our many successes involved the energy and thoughtfulness of others in our community; working together to bring support, programming and services to people in our towns. One recent example is the June Garden Party held in a lovely local garden to help support children and youth and ensure that every child in our towns has what they need for camp and summer activities. We had 50 people attend, and they brought bags of donations from bathing suits to flip flops to sunscreen to backpacks - all to be distributed by Acton Housing Authority, Acton's Town Social Worker, and area camps that serve our children. This was a clear demonstration of the partnerships we're promoting and the generosity of spirit and responsibility people feel for our community.
Your support of ABUW makes this all possible. Thank you.
Rachel Sagan, ABUW Executive Director and Ebit Speers, ABUW President

ABUW is proud to announce the investment of over $138,000 in grants to local health and human service organizations for fiscal year 2014/15. These grants support human services addressing fundamental needs in Acton and Boxborough. Marge Kennedy
2014 Volunteer of the Year
| (l-r) Shelley Sherman, Marge Kennedy, Rachel Sagan, and Ebit Speers |
It is with great pleasure and appreciation that we honored Marge Kennedy with ABUW's 2014 Volunteer of the Year Award. This award was created to thank the leadership volunteer that goes above and beyond. Marge is wise and kind, and we celebrate her passion for social justice and for helping those in need. Marge was a member of the ABUW board for three years and has been a valued member of the Community Outreach Committee. Marge is one of the founders of the Diversity Coalition, and she is also a member of the Acton League of Women Voters, No Place for Hate, and served as a liaison with the Church of the Good Shepherd and Budget Buddies organization.
