Description:

The National Alliance for Grieving Children promotes awareness of the needs of children and teens grieving a death and provides education and resources for anyone who wants to support them.

In response to the overwhelming number of applications last year, coupled with feedback from smaller start-up bereavement service sites, NAGC has increased its funding from $750,000 to $1.2 million in order to support organizational development and capacity building in the field.

To that end, NAGC, in association with the New York Life Foundation, will award twenty grants of $10,000 each to childhood bereavement organizations that have identified a need and seek funding to help them operate more effectively. Applicants must articulate goals that are achievable within twelve months.

Proposals should fit into one of five major categories: planning activities, staff/board development, strategic relationships/collaboration, internal operations, and technology improvements. The latter category may include upgrades to hardware and software, networking, website updates, and staff training in the use of technology. All products should be designed for  impact on the organization itself first and its clients second.
