Program: Sol Hirsch Education Funds Grants

Meteorology, Education, K-12, Teachers

Eligibility: Teachers, program directors, school district supervisors and other individuals or groups proposing to improve the education of K-12 students in meteorology    

  

Maximum Grant Amount: $750.00

 

Deadline: June 1, 2015 

 

Description: Sol Hirsch Education Fund Grants are awarded annually to teachers/educators of grades K-12 to help improve the education of their students, school and/or community in the science of meteorology. The Grant is intended to allow teachers to:

  • Purchase scientific materials and / or equipment for the classroom, school or community.
  • Begin new school and / or community science outreach and education programs.
  • Enhance and / or expand existing meteorology / science education programs.
  • Attend accredited courses, workshops and / or conferences related to meteorology that will significantly enhance their teaching activities.

: Encouraging Citizen Involvement Initiative

Eligibility: Applicants must be nonprofit organizations classified as 501(c)(3) organizations by the Internal Revenue Service. 

 

Maximum Grant Amount: $25,000.00
 
Deadline: June 3, 2015   

Description:
The Herb Block Foundation is named for Herb Block, the editorial cartoonist for The Washington Post for over 50 years, who died in October 2001 and left $50 million to create a foundation to encourage the art of editorial cartooning and support charitable and educational programs that advance the causes he championed.

The Foundation is accepting letters of inquiry to their Encouraging Citizen Involvement initiative. Grants are made nationally to projects that focus on citizen education and greater voter participation. All projects must be nonpartisan and may not involve lobbying for specific legislation or candidates.

Geographic Area: Indiana counties of Adams, Allen, DeKalb, Huntington, Noble, Wells and Whitley.

  

Eligibility:  501 (c) (3) organizations serving the northeast Indiana counties listed above

Maximum Grant Amount
: $25,000.00
 

Deadline: June 15, 2015 


Description:

Our disabilities focus is specific to individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities such as Down syndrome, autism spectrum disorder, traumatic brain injury, cerebral palsy, spina bifida, muscular dystrophy, fragile X syndrome or alcohol fetal syndrome, etc.

Disabilities acquired because of illness or aging would not be competitive for funding. Please call us for guidance if you have questions about your project. The Foundation's funding priorities are 1) program, 2) capital, and 3) operating.
