Greater Newburyport Health & Wellness Day - tomorrow!

The Greater Newburyport Health & Wellness Day is tomorrow, April 11th, at Newburyport High School from 10:00am-2:00pm. Bring the entire family and enjoy a variety of health-related activities, demos and presentations!

 

Anna Jaques will be hosting a teddy bear clinic, (bring your favorite bear) as well as offering free blood pressure checks. Those who get their blood pressure checked will get a free pedometer!

 

There will be something fun for everyone from mini exercise classes to Touch-A-Truck. Don't miss this fun, free, community event!

Dr. Bernhard Heersink Named Community Clinician of the Year
Dr. Bernhard Heersink with Dr. Glenn Kimball, President of the Essex North District Medical Society.

 

Dr. Bernhard Heersink has been honored by his physician peers of the Essex North District Medical Society as the 2015 Community Clinician of the Year at the organization's annual meeting on April 1, 2015. The award, established by the Massachusetts Medical Society, recognizes physicians who stand out as leading caregivers and have a made significant impact to their patients and the community.

Board-certified in ophthalmology, Dr. Heersink has been on the Anna Jaques medical staff since 1976. He previously served as Chief of the Department of Surgery and President of the Medical Staff and is currently Secretary of the Anna Jaques Board of Trustees. 

Free Screenings Help Save Lives

Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week is April 12-18th. During that time, the offices of Dr. Hemani, Dr. Khalil and Colden & Seymour Ear, Nose, Throat and Allergy are offering free head and neck cancer screenings to the community.

 

Head and neck cancer includes cancers of the mouth, nose, sinuses, salivary glands, throat, and lymph nodes in the neck. Symptoms may include:

  • A lump or sore that does not heal
  • A sore throat that does not go away
  • Trouble swallowing
  • A change or hoarseness in the voice

Use of tobacco or alcohol increases your risk, with 85% of head and neck cancers linked to tobacco use. If found early, these cancers are often curable. Click here for more details and schedule an appointment today!
