Obamacare

We continue to get more news on Obamacare.

It's difficult to project what may be left of this onerous and unwanted law when the new Insurance Commissioner takes office in January.

Greetings!

What a great response from individuals as we travel cross the state! So many people are volunteering for our campaign for Kansas Insurance Commissioner!

This truly is a statewide campaign, with volunteers in many communities throughout Kansas. Thank you to the thousands of people who want to see a CPA with over 30 years of relevant insurance experience bring good leadership to an important state department!

A very special thanks to many hundreds of people who are volunteering their time to make sure we win the primary on August 5th. You are doing a wonderful job!

Volunteer Kickoff Meetings

More volunteer kickoff meetings were held in Wichita and Johnson County. We have also had a huge response to our request for sign locations. If you would also like to support with a sign or volunteer in other ways, please click here.

County GOP Meetings

We attend local GOP meetings whenever possible, to share our message and meet new campaign supporters. Since our last report our campaign has had a presence at GOP meetings in Miami County, Johnson County and Sedgwick County, and have met informally with the leaders of a number of other County GOP committees.

Pachyderm Club Meetings, Republican Women's Clubs, Parades

This month we attended the Wichita and Shawnee County Pachyderm Club meetings, and spoke to the Montgomery County Republican Women's Club meeting in Independence. We also had a great time walking in the St Patrick's Day Parade in Leavenworth. Thank you volunteers for joining us!

Candidate Forums

We participated in candidate forums in Wichita, Garden City, and Johnson County. New supporters for our campaign join at every one of these events. We are looking forward to the forums coming up in April!

Presentations and Attendance at Professional Organizations

The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors invited me to speak to their organization. I was also introduced to the Financial Planning Association of Greater Kansas City. It is gratifying to know that people who are in the industry everyday so broadly support our message and businesslike approach to running the Kansas Insurance Department!

IN THE COMMUNITY

"Serving All Kansans - Professionally and in the Community"

Deb and I have been long term and enthusiastic supporters (yes, even Jayhawk Deb!) of the Wabash Cannonball, which raises scholarship funds for KSU students.

As we move toward July 1 when I will become President of my Rotary Club, I have been attending and participating in a number of Rotary events, including conferences and club leadership training.

I have had the opportunity to speak to several Rotary Clubs, including the Parsons and Paola Clubs, on how the Kansas Insurance Department Impacts All Kansans, and have attended a number of other club meetings including the Junction City Club.

We all have our own story. One that is important to my family is Deb's, her sister Pam's, and good friend Ann's battle with breast cancer. This past Friday evening we celebrated their excellent progress.
