Greetings!

What a great summer it's been meeting so many of our supporters and volunteers around the state!  Thank you for your help and encouragement.  Deb and I are very grateful.

As the fall season approaches, our campaign continues its travels throughout the state with upcoming appearances in Wichita, Paola, Garden City, Salina, Overland Park and other great communities, please visit our website for a complete campaign schedule.  I look forward to meeting you and discussing your thoughts and concerns for our state. Your insight will be a tremendous asset to our campaign.

Please consider getting more involved with the Kansans for Selzer team.  Follow our campaign on Twitter, Facebook or visit our website to sign up to volunteer on the campaign in your area.

Read on to see the wonderful Kansans I have met during our campaign stops across our state.

GOP Meetings in Reno and Lyon County
20130729 - Lyon County GOP Picnic

Last month we attended GOP meetings in Reno and Lyon counties. I learned a lot at each gathering from people like Randy Duncan, GOP Delegate from the 1st Congressional District, and Clay Barker, Executive Director of the Kansas GOP.  Here I am speaking at the Lyon County meeting, also attended by Derek Schmidt, Kansas Attorney General.  Trust me, I'm not always this funny!

Paola Parade
20130725 - Paola Parade

The July 24 parade in Paola drew a large and enthusiastic crowd. I joined several of our team's parade walkers including our daughter Mackenzie and our neighbors Ben and Kat.

Statewide Receptions

Friends and supporters are hosting local receptions for us across the state. We look forward to connecting with many more of you at other receptions in the coming months. I'd be honored if you'd like to host an event for our campaign in your community.

Rotary Leadership Seminar
20130810-RotaryLeadership

While the campaign requires a great deal of attention, we also devote time and energy to providing leadership in a number of organizations. Earlier this month I joined several Rotary Club members at the Leadership Seminar in Topeka. We heard Lenexa City Councilman Andy Huckaba discuss social media trends and I gave a presentation on the Rotary Foundation grant process.

Innovative Teacher Award

Four years ago Deb and I initiated the Innovative Teacher Award in the Blue Valley School District to recognize innovative teaching approaches. On August 12 we presented this year's award to So Choi, who teaches at Leawood Middle School.
