Do Your Students Struggle with Math?
Many students entering their first year of college arrive unprepared in mathematics and need to further develop their math literacy before taking required advanced mathematics. Students who lack a suitable understanding of basic math and algebra concepts too often fail in their first attempt at college mathematics, causing many of them to abandon their hopes of getting a college degree. Pitsco Education's Developmental Math and Introductory Algebra curriculum builds success in math and keeps students on track to earning their degree.
- Builds mastery of basic math and algebraic concepts
- Includes small-group hands-on learning
- Offers individualized, prescribed instruction
- Integrates diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments
- Includes practice and mastery tests

The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows. ~Sydney J. Harris |
What to consider before introducing classroom technology Technology should not be "everywhere in the classroom," writes Douglas Rushkoff, a digital literacy advocate. Among his points in this blog post are the potential dangers associated with technology and the responsibility of educators to consider whether a digital tool or device will improve teaching and learning. He also writes about the benefits of interacting in person, rather than sacrificing human interaction in favor of learning in a virtual reality.
Pitsco blends technology with hands-on, interactive learning to teach STEM and Algebra.
Will K-12 funding increase as states recover? While some states are predicting increased revenue, officials say the additional funding may not reach K-12 education. There also is disagreement over just how rosy the financial picture is, with some saying that many states have rebounded to pre-recession levels. "It is still true that people don't want to reinflate what they had," said Paul Hill, founder of the Center on Reinventing Public Education at the University of Washington.
Grants and additional funding opportunities are available. Did you know that Moss partners with Pitsco Education to provide grant writing assistance, free of charge? Contact Julie for more information! |
