CHAMBER NEWS
January 22, 2014

As the new year begins, we say goodbye (and thank you) to many of the board members who gave me the opportunity to lead the Napa Chamber of Commerce. We also welcome new board members, and "welcome back" Ken Frank, who will continue on with a second term as board chair. Ken's leadership has been essential to the Chamber's recent success. We also make a pretty good team, and I'm looking forward to working with him again this year.

Tomorrow is the Annual Meeting and Lunch when we will announce the Citizen of the Year, Large and Small Businesses of the year, Customer Service Person of the Year and Ambassador of the Year. The event sold out pretty early so make sure to visit napachamber.com for the announcements of the winners and a recap of the event.

In this issue, we share good news with you about the Napa Valley Community Disaster Relief Fund: The deadline has been extended to March 31 for residences and businesses to apply for grants. And, of course, we welcome and thank our members -- the reason we do what we do every day.

Sincerely,

Travis Stanley
President/CEO

Raising of America
Local Premiere of Raising of America
Tuesday, February 3, 5:30-8 pm

The hour-long Raising of America interweaves the latest discoveries from neuroscience with the stories of families and communities struggling to provide the nurturing environments all babies and young children need in order to thrive, while too often hindered by social conditions that put their children on low developmental trajectories. It doesn't have to be this way. If the nation aspires to a healthier, safer, better educated, more prosperous and equitable future, we must find a way to enable all our children the opportunity for a strong start now. A panel discussion of experts and advocates discussing ways we can address inequities in our own community will follow the film.
