Helping the younger generation understand the need for insurance can be frustrating at times, so it's important to look for opportunities to tie insurance to a significant event in their life, such as heading off to college.

 

Some things to talk about:

  • Auto Insurance: Will the student be taking the car to school with them?
  • Identity Fraud Protection: College students often open first-time credit lines without guidance from their parents, leaving them susceptible to fraud and identity theft.
  • Renters Insurance: Will the student be living in dorms or off-campus?
  • Personal Umbrella: Will they be sledding down a hill on a mattress? What about dormitory pranks?
  • Scheduled Personal Property: What type of valuable items will the student be taking with them?
