A Week of Thanks and Starting Your Engines!
I have been fortunate to serve alongside many dedicated volunteers and staff members through my time with the Seward County Economic Development Corporation and now, with the Seward County Chamber & Development Partnership (SCCDP). This week, I'd like to thank Denise Christensen and Resa Lavicky for their devoted years of service as Executive Assistants to the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce and SCCDP. They have helped us successfully start to transition the SCCDP to a standalone county-wide organization.
Denise started with the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce in 2010 when she was hired by Pat Coldiron. She's our resident historian in the office and has a genuine gift for design. I appreciate her eye for marketing, which has helped give Seward County promotional materials a fresh look over the years. Denise recently developed a new marketing brochure for Seward County, which can be found on the Seward County Nebraska Tourism home page: http://www.sewardnebraskatourism.org/.
Resa started with the Seward Area Chamber of Commerce in 2015 when she was hired by Charles Lieske. She's been our bookkeeper and membership database guru. I appreciate her willingness to care about the details, especially her recent work with managing our Chamber Bucks program. Resa has recently been updating the online membership listings of the SCCDP, which can be found under the Business section of our website ( http://www.sewardne.com/).
Resa's last working day with the SCCDP will be on Thursday, May 19 and Denise's last day will be on Tuesday, May 31. I encourage you to take some time and personally thank them for their years of service to the Chamber, SCCDP, and Seward County. Here are their e-mail addresses: denise.christensen@sewardne.comresa.lavicky@sewardne.com
They have faithfully worked together as a team to help fill the gaps for our administrative office needs. We're genuinely grateful for their dedication to our organization and wish them the best in their future endeavors. They both will be missed.
Have you heard that racing is coming to Seward County?
On Saturday, June 4, we will be hosting the Big Blue Mile Shootout just outside of Cordova. Forty experienced drivers from all around the country will be competing in this matching times race. For more information, please visit http://www.bigbluemile.com/. Proceeds from the race will benefit the volunteer fire departments in Beaver Crossing, Cordova, and Utica. Besides attending race day, there are a lot of other ways to get engaged, so please check out the event schedule.
One unique way to support the event is to purchase raffle tickets for the opportunity to ride with celebrity car drivers, Al Unser Jr. or Robby Unser on Saturday, June 4. Raffle tickets are being sold for $10. They can be purchased at the following: Utica, Cordova and Beaver Crossing Volunteer Fire Departments UTICA: First Insurance at First Bank of Utica Rough Reins Bar and Grill Houchen Bindery Pac-N-Save Utica Bowl Shears and Blades Utica Parts and Service BEAVER CROSSING: Beaver Hardware Beaver Corner Bar and Grill CORDOVA: Huggy's Bar and Grill SEWARD: Seward County Chamber & Development Partnership (SCCDP) in the Civic Center Code 504 Dan's Custom Works Hobson Automotive
