We've been having recent conversations with downtown building and business owners in Seward. We've reflected together on how we're fortunate to have excellent diversity of existing businesses and beautiful and historic buildings. The question we've been asking is, "How do we keep downtown Seward beautiful and develop it into a destination for purchasing goods and services?"

One answer is to promote the importance of Seward citizens shopping at their local businesses. This creates a healthy local economy and sets the stage for companies in Seward to grow. It also creates an attractive environment for new businesses that may be interested in filling empty buildings in downtown Seward.

This conversation is not just relevant to Seward, but all of Seward County. We encourage communities across Seward County to start or revitalize this conversation with their downtown building and business owners. Each community's dialogue will be different, but all are vitally important to the health and well-being of our county-wide economy.

An anonymous donor has given four tickets to the SCCDP for the upcoming Berkshire Hathaway Annual Shareholders Meeting at the CenturyLink Center in Omaha on Saturday, April 30.

The SCCDP will be conducting a free drawing to give away the tickets. There will be two winners who will each receive two tickets. Saturday was the Spring Cleanup in Seward and Utica.  Seward reported filling 2 roll-offs and 2 flatbeds with various appliances, collecting 75 TV's and monitors, 21 refrigerators/freezers, and 10 air conditioners! 

We'd like to thank the Concordia Football team, Seward FCCLA Students, City of Seward, Fehlhafers in Utica, the Utica Commercial Club and Seward County.
