Vision Statement

Seward County is a pro-active and collaborative area with vibrant, welcoming, family-friendly, and safe communities, recognized for pillars of strength in agriculture, arts and culture, business, education, entrepreneurship, government, and healthcare.

We are a destination location for businesses, visitors and residents within the greater metropolitan area and an active partner in the region.

Our residents enjoy picturesque and diverse neighborhoods, viable main streets, outstanding recreational opportunities, active civic life, faith-based living, and quality housing and employment choices.

The private and public sectors are united and citizens are engaged for the betterment of all Seward County.

Guiding Principles

We are guided by:

Integrity
We are open, honest and hold ourselves to the
highest ethical standards.

Respect
We treat everyone with courtesy, equity, and fairness.

Leadership
We understand the importance of engaged leadership and that leadership must transition to ensure the vision continues for future generations.

Giving/Philanthropy
We are caring and generous.  We encourage giving freely and helping those in need.  We champion volunteerism for its powerful contribution to our area.

Planning
We acknowledge the importance of a shared vision and being intentional about planning for our future.  We believe our collective efforts will be sustainable for the long-term betterment of all Seward County.

There is much to celebrate today...

Congratulations to the Village of Utica for earning their Leadership Certified Community designation from the Nebraska Department of Economic Development! This is a wonderful reflection on their engaged and hard working local leadership. See the award press release at this link:

Utica Leadership Certification

Tonight we celebrate agriculture in Seward County. We appreciate the opportunity to partner with the Kiwanis Club of Seward to organize the 48th Annual Ag Recognition Banquet. We're grateful for the efforts of many volunteers and staff members from both organizations who have made this event possible. This is an important banquet because it helps us dedicate time to recognize local champions in agriculture. The industry of agriculture serves as the one of the largest economic drivers and employers in Seward County. We thank our local farmers and agricultural support businesses for their hard work and investments to grow agriculture into a thriving industry in Seward County.

To prepare for future events and celebrations, we need your help to populate the Seward County Chamber & Development Partnership (SCCDP) calendar. If you have upcoming business or organizational events, please let us know about them. If you're an existing member of the SCCDP, you're welcome to log-in with your username and password to www.SewardNE.com and add your specific event details on your own. If you want support, please call us. We'll be meeting with representatives from the Seward County Independent, Seward Memorial Library (www.ConnectSeward.org), and others to discuss developing a county-wide calendar in the near future.

Representatives from the SCCDP have met with all the municipal and county leaders (i.e., City Councils, Village Trustees, and County Commissioners) in Seward County except Staplehurst (we plan to meet with them in future). We've asked each community (and the Seward County Commissioners) to consider adopting the Seward County Vision Statement 2035 and Guiding Principles. To date, Seward County and the communities of Bee, Cordova, Milford, Seward, and Utica have adopted the Vision Statement and Guiding Principles. We've received good feedback from the other municipal leaders and have plans to return for future public meetings to continue the discussions. Our goal is to create more county-wide engagement and stronger collaborations among communities and Seward County. This will move us closer to fulfilling our Seward County Vision Statement 2035.
