From Kathy's Desk
The Chamber Board of Directors met last week and approved a budget for 2016 and sponsorship opportunities. We are changing up some of the events for this year, eliminating some as well. There is a link to the 2016 Sponsorship Opportunities below and we look forward to filling them as soon as possible. If you have any questions about them, please call or email me. Sponsorship Opportunities
We have added sponsorships for two business showcases this year. These will be business after hour-like events that will showcase up to 10 of our Chamber businesses. Give some thought to a group of businesses you might like to partner with - maybe similar businesses, in the same geographic area of the community, or a real mix of businesses that could be fun and entertaining to the broader Chamber membership. We have some ideas and will be making personal contacts but are open to any and all possibilities. Let's have some fun with these!
We have also added sponsorships for four (4) membership luncheons throughout the year. Sponsors will have an opportunity to share information about their business during the luncheon in addition to a specific topic featured or focus at each. If interested, please let me know and let's explore possibilities to help promote your business and encourage Chamber members to participate.
Finally we are working on a Salt Dogs Exhibition Game to be held in Seward in May of this year. I expect we'll finalize a date this week or next and will share the sponsorship opportunities and other fun things we can do by bringing this event to Seward. This will be a new fundraiser for the Chamber and a fun night at the ball park for all ages, including a clinic for kids, autograph session and more. Stay tuned!
With a few new events come opportunities for new volunteers. If interested in helping plan and execute these new events, please call or email the Chamber staff. We do not plan to form a "committee" but event teams that are short and sweet. Join us!
If you have not yet returned your 2016 membership renewal, please do so this month. We ended 2015 with 222 members and grateful for the level of support this past year. We thank all those who have renewed and will be sending your 2016 membership decal soon.
Have a great week and I look forward to seeing a good crowd at our luncheon tomorrow and The Extravaganza on the 19th.

This week's spotlight is the James A. Steider Agency.
Jim bought the business in April, 1996 and ran the business from what he calls the "old Kolterman house". In 1998, they moved to their present location at 246 S Columbia.
Jim sells and services insurance policies for property, casualty, and crop insurance. His staff includes Marla Jisa who has been there since he purchased the business; and his daughter, Hillary Steider that has been there for 3 years.
Jim works hard in providing good customer service and his favorite thing to do is to provide the proper coverage for his customer's needs.
