From Kathy's Desk

Happy 2016!  Something tells me this year is going to go by really fast, especially these next few months!  We are looking forward to seeing many of you at our luncheon on the 12th and then celebrating 2015 at The Extravaganza on January 19th.  See the details, including the menu, below.  It will be a special night for socializing, enjoying a wonderful dinner, recognizing many accomplishments and volunteers for their work in 2015, and talking about 2016 and beyond.  Senator Mark Kolterman will share what the 2016 legislative session may have in store for us.  We will present and recognize the Ambassador of the Year, the First Impressions Award, the Allen Barghahn Customer Service Award, and the Spirit of Seward Award.  We will also recognize our outgoing Chamber President, Renee Coufal.  The 2015 Seward Area Chamber of Commerce Annual Report will be printed and distributed to all who attend.  See you there!

I am very happy to announce and recognize our newest Patriot Level Member - the Kolterman Agency.  Patriot members are leading visionaries for the community who want to leverage their businesses' credibility and help support the Chamber's mission of enhancing economic success and quality of life in the Seward area. Patriot members receive all full member benefits, as well as special recognition on www.sewardne.com, directories, reports, newsletters and ads.  All Patriot members invest $1,000 per year or double their regular membership, whichever is greater.
Thank you Kolterman Agency for your tremendous support!  Other Patriot members include Concordia University and Suhr & Lichty Insurance.

Have a great week,

Kathy Evert

Membership Luncheon
Tuesday, January 12, Noon
Civic Center

This is an important one!  As you will recall from our September luncheon, our fall newsletter and updates through the local media and other meetings, there have been several meetings and progress made through the Seward County Vision Working Group formed in September.  Your Chamber Board of Directors and board members of seven other organizations have been working well together and meeting frequently to talk about the future and how to best achieve a shared, common vision going forward.

We invite you to join us for a full update and an opportunity to ask questions, provide feedback and be involved.  We will share the proposed vision statement, guiding principles, how they will be used and executed, and how we suggest the organizations be aligned to ensure the vision is achieved for all of Seward County.

Lunch will be $8; please call or email the Chamber office to RSVP by Friday, January 8th.

Nominations Sought for Agribusiness of the Year Award

The Seward Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations through January 1st for the Agribusiness of the Year Award. The Award will be presented at the Kiwanis Ag Recognition Banquet held in March.  The award is designed to bring recognition to an individual or business that has created new jobs or other economic opportunities in Seward County agriculture. This could include expanding markets, engaging the non-farm public in promotion of agricultural products, leadership roles in agricultural organizations, or extraordinary effort during a career in agriculture.
