We salute our Veterans this week
I am looking forward to our Chamber Membership Luncheon this week and our salute to Veterans.  I have had several family members and friends serve or are currently serving and am grateful for them every day.  Thank you to all Veterans for your service and sacrifice that allows us to remain safe and free.  Happy Veterans Day and God Bless America.

Nominations sought for 2015 Seward County Agribusiness of the Year Award
The Seward Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations through January 1st for the Agribusiness of the Year Award. The Award will be presented at the Kiwanis Ag Recognition Banquet held in March.  The award is designed to bring recognition to an individual or business that has created new jobs or other economic opportunities in Seward County agriculture. This could include expanding markets, engaging the non-farm public in promotion of agricultural products, leadership roles in agricultural organizations, or extraordinary effort during a career in agriculture.

Only persons who are residents of Seward County will be selected for recognition. Posthumous nominations may be made.  Click on the link below for a form or pick up or request a form from the Chamber office, 402-643-4189.

Congratulations to Memorial Health Care Systems on new addition and remodeling
We send our congratulations to Memorial Health Care on the completion and recent open house of their new addition and remodeling of areas in the hospital.  Thank you to Carol Carlson for the personal tour last week.  I have to say it is a first-class and modern facility.  The Seward area is fortunate to have many services and specialties right here.  Best wishes to everyone at MHCS.

Would you update your business/Chamber membership information?
We are undertaking a complete update of all Chamber members information in our ChamberMaster database.  The information we have for each of you, including the contacts, was mailed to you last week along with your login information.  You can make updates on you own by logging into the website, or mark up the sheet and return to us, or call us and we'll make the updates for you.  We also included information about the free job postings available to you and the Hot Deals!  If you have any special promotions, consider using the Chamber website as another outlet to promote them or consider special promos to Chamber members!

Thank you Seward County Visitors Committee for your support of the Christmas Booklet and some TV advertising planned to promote the Christmas Parade.

Thank you to Cobblestone Inn and Suites for hosting a Business After Hours last week.  It was a great spread of food that Ann and her staff provided for us.  Be sure to consider their meeting room as you consider any events your business or family may be planning this holiday season and beyond.

Only 19 days until the Christmas Festival and Parade!  Have a great week.

Member Spotlight

Each week we will randomly selecting a Seward Area Chamber of Commerce member to feature in the Chamber Update.  This week, we are happy to feature:

They started in approximately 1990 when their dad, Ron Carder, wanted to teach Joey and his sister what it felt like to work for their money when they were in 2nd or 3rd grade by selling hats outside of Memorial Stadium. In 1998, they started working the business full time and worked out of their garage for a decade before moving into Seward at 244 N. 5th Street.

They may no longer make signs, but they do everything else and even sell sport jewelry.  They run a number of online apparel stores and do all of the software in house.  That is a versatile company!

Winter Wonderland Open House
November 19, 9 am - 4 pm
418 Seward St

There will be a special Open House to allow Chamber members and a few other select groups to preview the Winter Wonderland  before it opens for the season during the Christmas Festival on November 28th.

Housed in the west side of the Seward Physical Therapy building at 418 Seward Street, it features a model train, the Night Before Christmas dioramas, games and much more!  Have your photo taken on the Polar Express!   New displays this year follow the Christmas Festival theme of "Favorite Christmas Stories".  We want to say a special thank you to Gary Pomerenke of Seward Physical Therapy for the use of the space these past five years.

If you haven't been there before, stop by and check it out.  Please support the volunteers who have worked so hard to put this together and help spread the word.  It's just another reason for folks to visit Seward during the Christmas season.  We hope to see you on the 19th!

Preparations are underway for the 27th Annual Seward Spring Show taking place February 5-6 at the Seward Ag Pavilion at the Fairgrounds.  Please click on the link below to view details and reserve your space.  There's still time to take advantage and save with the Early Bird Registration.  Deadline for Early Bird is December 1st!
