Nebraska Internship Program Can Help Address Workforce Challenges

One of the top concerns voiced by Nebraska employers is the shrinking pool of qualified or skilled workers.  With the nation's lowest jobless rate -- and more than 50,000 current job openings, according to the Department of Labor -- finding good employees can be tough.  Fortunately, the Cornhusker State offers a unique program to improve its workforce and retain the state's young people.  The Intern Nebraska (InternNE) program -- administered by the Nebraska Department of Economic Development -- provides financial assistance to businesses that are willing to create new internships.  Interns obtain valuable experience, while businesses develop future employees.  Research shows that more than 50% of interns go on to become full-time employees at their place of internship, so internships help ensure that your community and its businesses continue to grow.  For a description of InternNE's rules and requirements, click here or contact Rose Baker with DED at (402) 471-1559 or ded.InternNE@nebraska.gov.  To see what internships are currently available -- or to register a student or business with InternNE -- visit www.internne.com

I have been involved in launching internship training, programs and working with employers in establishing internships.  With the pool of college students in the area and great partnerships with all levels of the education community, this can happen for Seward and Seward County.  Please consider establishing and offering internships in your business.

Featured Chamber Member

Starting this week, we are randomly selecting a Seward Area Chamber of Commerce member to feature in the Chamber Update.  This first week, we are happy to feature Seward Chiropractic Center.
Dr. Soucek and Dr. Miller are chiropractors serving Seward and the surrounding area and have been in the same location since 1978.  They and the rest of the welcoming team at Seward Chiropractic Center PC are committed to providing chiropractic solutions to address your unique needs, whether you are experiencing back pain, neck pain, headaches, or even muscular tightness and tension.

They offer Professional Applied Kinesiology, which is an evaluation of the body's Structure, Chemical Function/Nutrition, and Mental/Emotional state in order to treat the entire person as a whole. The body is functionally and neurologically tested and evaluated in order to diagnose what the individual patient needs, and is then treated accordingly.  They also offer Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT), which causes tissues of the body to heal faster- 66% faster healing according to FDA studies.
