From the Director . . .

The boys of summer both on the baseball fields and the golf course are having a hard time getting any playing time in....   This is a first, but we are canceling the golf tourney for this coming Friday - if you have any questions, just contact us.

Thanks to Denise and Sharon for working so diligently to get our second issue of the Event Calendar completed.   We have also been working on getting a map of Art, Artisans, & Antiques in Seward County completed in time for the brochure swap in May.   We're doing our best to get folks to stop in Seward County!
Meeting Highlights

First Impressions - April 12
  • Gary Rolf will now serve as committee chair with Lisa Bennett as secretary.
  • Flyers were given to the group about the National Prescription Drug Takeback scheduled for 4/27.
  • Report was given on the April 13th Cleanup Day.
  • Discussed the green water tower.  Research will be done into who owns it.
  • Discussed the Main Street program.  There is interest, but funding main not continue.  The committee can take on its own downtown beautification projects.
  • Talked about potential tree projects.
  • The Chamber needs to move the Christmas floats and needs property to put a metal building on.
  • Talked about the Seward sign and the many roadblocks  the project has encountered.
YOU made the difference!

Your investment of time, energy, communication, and prayer made it possible!  Plum Creek has been awarded a $25,000 grant from State Farm Insurance!  Praise God for His goodness and for the Concordia family who came together to surge in the voting in the final hours!

We are humbled by the unbelievable interest and zeal demonstrated by the whole literacy community.  We saw Concordia students, staff, professors, parents, alumni, and Facebook friends pull together toward a common goal...and it was a heart-warming and joyful endeavor.

On behalf of the thousands of children and adults who will experience God's gift of words and pictures at this year's festival, THANK YOU!

With deep appreciation,

Janell Uffelman, Director

Vikki Gremel, Coordinator
