From the Director . . .
I know I am repeating this message; however, I think it is worth the repeat. Please note and at least open one of the many methods of communications we have developed to reach our members.
- The bi-weekly Constant Contact email which comes to you every two weeks in the form of a mini newsletter. The last three editions are available on our website.
- The Quarterly paper newsletter, which comes to you every three months via traditional mail and email and is also available on our website.
- Notification of meetings via postcard or email as per each committee's wish.
- Notification of Chamber activities (giving you the opportunity to participate) via all of the above partnered with special emails.
- New Bi-Monthly Calendar of Events to better prepare for visitors coming to town; traditional paper distributed at coffee shops and gathering places with a PDF version available on our website. Our newspaper has picked this up also. More details about each event on the paper calendar can be found on our website's online calendar.

Tropical Nights and Carnival Lights! Seward County Fair, August 1-4
Just a reminder: the 2013 Seward County Fair is August 1-4, with prefair activities July 30-31. Our theme this year is "Tropical Nights and Carnival Lights!" We have great, new entertainment at this year's fair and we hope you will visit us this year.
If you have any suggestions for future county fair program development, please let us know; your input and suggestions are important! If you would like to work as a volunteer at the fair, we would like to talk with you. Just call Doug Brand at 402-641-6404.
Plan to make the 2013 Seward County Fair a part of your summer; see you there!

Meeting Highlights
Board of Directors - April 3rd
- Financial: Membership dues are $3,000 ahead of last year. We had a great Spring Show full of vendors, but didn't have the attendance we hoped for. We need to be thinking of a new fundraiser for next year.
- Discussed a county wide Chamber or combining with Economic Development. Would not be something happening in the near future, but we will continue to research.
- There were 23 new families in Seward last month, 19 new housing permits, and 6 new business permits.
- City Council news: Discussed the LB840 ballot, the wellness center and getting details about projects. Pat suggested we update the LB840 brochure to answer some misconceptions.
- Fundraising: Spring Show, Golf Tourney, Car Show and new ideas for future fundraising.
- Membership: Reported on Enhanced Marketing package on Chamber website. Plan to have Membership Luncheons every other month. Adding one in May for Leadership class graduates.
- Leadership Class: Started with 17 participants last year, 8 sessions. Have four High School students interested this year. Want to help people realize the opportunities in Seward County. They do not have to leave the county to find work.
- Ambassadors: Had a meeting with 12 people, 72 were invited. How can we "make a difference" and be more than just the monthly call. Need to promote mentoring, encourage, help promote the Chamber and act as a liaison for the Chamber.
