A Message from Our President/CEO
|
 Beginning with the end in mind...
Helping people who are homeless is a significant endeavor being done by more than 100 different organizations in Houston/Harris County. These include emergency shelters, meal providers, health centers and many more. Each organization adds value. For some, it's the fulfillment of physical needs for food and shelter. For others, it's the fulfillment of spiritual and medical needs. To maximize our value, we work together and coordinate our efforts to help the men, women, and children experiencing homelessness get past another day and move forward.Over the years, SEARCH Homeless Services has helped our clients meet physical and spiritual needs. And we don't stop there. Because we're driven by the urgent needs of individuals and families to permanently exit homelessness, SEARCH focuses on clients being successful in achieving three primary outcomes: - obtain permanent housing
- increase income
- maintain stability, and consequently, improve their health
These three outcomes drive everything our staff and volunteers do. We engage, build trust and help motivate our clients to define their own goals that will lead them from the streets, back to jobs, and safe, stable housing. Not only is it cost effective and practical to move toward permanent housing quickly, we've learned people transition faster, and their stability lasts longer.
