COMPASSION FOR SUFFERING CIRCUS ANIMALS

Middle School Humane Education Program

This group of Middle School boys elected to learn about circus animal suffering

in 22reasons' humane education program at SCH Academy. They discussed the facts and viewed the evidence of abuse, and they learned about the current rescue efforts of ANIMAL DEFENDERS INTERNATIONAL(ADI) -- a group working tirelessly with governments to ban traveling animal-circuses around the world.

The boys were offered the unique opportunity to meet ADI's president, Jan Creamer, and vice president, Tim Phillips, via Skype at their rescue compound in Peru.

Jan and Tim took the students on a tour of ADI's temporary facility where 30 rescued lions and 9 monkeys are cared for and await their journey to a better life. These up-close and personal introductions to comfy, large carnivores and lounging, lanky monkeys, included details about each of the animal's previous circumstances.

Leo and Rolex were confined for their entire lives in this beastwagon until ADI arrived to rescue them.

The monkeys are destined for sanctuaries in Peru and the lions will be flown to

The Wild Animal Sanctuary in Colorado!

Lions rescued by ADI from Bolivian circuses now enjoy 20 acres habitats at the sanctuary. Photo taken by Pat Craig

The Middle School boys were inspired to raise awareness so they taught the 3rd graders everything they learned and encouraged them not to support circuses with animals.

The 3rd graders quickly became part of the pride!
