ORCA WELFARE AND SAFETY ACT |
On Friday March 7th, California state lawmaker, Richard Bloom, D-Santa Monica, introduced the Orca Welfare and Safety Act, proposing a BAN on the following: using killer whales in performances breeding captive orcas moving orcas or gametes (egg and sperm) across state lines using rescued animals for entertainment "There is no justification for the continued captive display of orcas for entertainment purposes," Bloom said in the release. "These beautiful creatures are much too large and far too intelligent to be confined in small, concrete tanks for their entire lives. It is time to end the practice of keeping orcas captive for human amusement."
The bill includes provisions for establishing sea sanctuaries as well.
First orcas in California, next, bans protecting ALL marine mammals,
in every park around the world!
