Greetings!
November was a busy month! We kicked things off with a crowd of 300 people at the Serra Roundup. Next was the annual Phonathon, which raised more than $16,000. Thank you for your support.

The month concluded with the Fall Alumni Games, with 125 alumni participating in the poker tournament, basketball, water polo and soccer games.

Happy Holidays in to you and your families. I hope to see you in the new year. Go Padres!

Sincerely,

Bob Greene, Jr. '85

Padres Visit Nation's Capital

Twenty Serra Padres and 23 Mercy girls learned a lot about their roles as U.S. citizens in November, as participants of the fall Close-Up trip. The weeklong program was jam-packed with the sights and sounds of Washington D.C. Padres met members of Congress, policy experts and influential lobbyists during question-and-answer sessions and debates. They also met Congresswoman Jackie Speier in the Congressional Budget Office Room. In addition, they were led in the Padre Whisper by Serra alumnus Bradley Bottoms '10, who works for Speier on the Hill.

"It was another incredible week for our students," said Serra moderator Kevin Carey '93. "We were able to see the sights and sounds of D.C. and experience government in action. Another added benefit was the interaction with a diverse array of students from all over the country. There were students from seven different states and territories, from Wyoming to Puerto Rico."
Six Padres Sign D1 Letters of Intent

Six Serra Padres signed letters of intent to D1 schools on November 13. Excitement filled the air in the Serra gym as they were joined by their coaches, families and friends.

The outstanding student-athletes are:

* Seth Bartlett, crew, Yale University
* Jeff Dalli, fencing, Stanford University
* Joe Kmak, swimming, University of California, Santa Barbara
* James Outman, baseball, Cal State University, Sacramento
* Chris Papapietro, baseball, University of the Pacific
* Isaiah Salinda, golf, Stanford University

Congratulations, Padres!
