Greetings!
We have two very exciting events around the corner! On January 24, we will host the 50-Year Club Luncheon in the Serra Library for Classes of 1947-1963. This event is always packed, and we hope you can make it. It's always great to reconnect with fellow alumni and enjoy a delicious catered lunch.

Please mark your calendar for the 10th annual Fund a Dream scholarship benefit on February 19. Our keynote speaker will be San Francisco Auxiliary Bishop William Justice '60. This is such an important event, and we greatly appreciate your support of this very special program (for more information, please see the article below).

Wishing you all a Happy New Year - hope to see you at Serra!

Sincerely,

50-Year-Club Luncheon January 24

It's almost that time of year again - our 50-Year Club Luncheon (for Classes of 1947-1963) will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, January 24 in the Serra library. Lunch will be provided by Kevin Weir '70, the owner of Weir Catering.

The last 50-Year Club Luncheon was an outstanding event. It is remarkable that our alumni keep in touch through the decades, which is a true testament to the Serra brotherhood. Don't miss the 50-Year Club Luncheon! You can register by CLICKING HERE.

Fund a Dream is February 19
Since its inception in 2005, Serra's Fund a Dream event has raised $1.9 million for students who need financial aid in order to afford a Serra education. For the current school year, we received requests from almost 400 families who asked for $3.5 million in financial aid. We awarded $2.4 million to 276 students who otherwise would not have been able to attend Serra.

Fund a Dream will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, February 19 in the Serra Morton Family Gymnasium.

This year, we will welcome San Francisco Auxiliary Bishop William Justice '60 as our keynote speaker. Our celebrity emcee will be NFL Hall-of-Famer and four-time Super Bowl champion Lynn Swann '70. Special guests will include author and screenwriter Peter Barsocchini '70, retired District Attorney Jim Fox '62, former New York Times Executive Editor Bill Keller '66, and best-selling author John Lescroart '66. Michael Trucco '88 Stars in Killer Women
Murder and mayhem - Texas style. Michael Trucco '88 has landed a plum role on ABC's Killer Women. The show airs on Tuesday nights at 10 p.m.

Killer Women was created by Hannah Shakespeare (The Raven) and is produced by Sofia Vergara (Modern Family). The show is about a Texas Ranger, Molly Parker, who tracks down female killers.

Trucco plays Billy Parker, Molly's brother. A former Marine, he is the rock of the family and a cattle-rancher.  Trucco's recent TV credits include steady roles on Revenge, How I Met Your Mother and Castle, and a co-starring role on USA Network's Fairly Legal.

Around the Halls
Padres Help Children with Cancer
For the 29th consecutive year, Serra students and faculty members teamed up with the "Toy Lady," Nancy Torres, to support her nonprofit organization, A Very Special Toy Box.

Admissions Director Randy Vogel and Serra teachers Ed Taylor and Bruce Anthony collected toys, gift cards and monetary donations for young cancer patients at 11 Northern California hospitals. Donations were provided by Serra students and faculty members.

Torres, who resides in Redwood City, has worked tirelessly during the last 32 years to support children with cancer who are receiving bone marrow, chemotherapy, radiation and spinal treatments. After enduring one of those procedures, each child unlocks a toy box and chooses a new toy. "It's so wonderful work with your terrific Serra students," Torres said. "They are so supportive year in and year out. Their donations will assist us well into next year."

Once a Padre, Always a Padre!
