Greetings!
As this school year comes to a close, it's no secret that we had a lot to celebrate. It was another successful year for our Padres in the classroom, on stage and on the fields.

Alumni support has never been stronger. We have had record attendance at all of our alumni events, coupled with a few fantastic fundraisers. We appreciate all that you do to support Serra, and I hope to see you at the Serra Golf Classic on June 24!

Sincerely,

Teacher Spotlight
Jim and Janie Monahan Visit Serra
Jim and Janie Monahan visited the Serra campus this week to catch up with old friends and see what's new. Jim taught math at Serra for almost 40 years, and was a beloved teacher and coach. The Monahans are enjoying their retirement in Roseville, where they play golf and volunteer for numerous outreach programs. Jim and Janie shared memories of the Serra community through the decades. Stay tuned for a much bigger story in the next issue of Traditions.
Serra Golf Classic June 24

The annual Serra Golf Classic will be held on Monday, June 24. The tournament will be held at the Peninsula Golf and Country Club in San Mateo.
Proceeds will benefit the Alumni Scholarship Fund. Why not take the day off to play? Or, there are many ways to help us with sponsorship duties. All friends of Serra are invited to this outstanding community event.

Battle of the Bands Competition Rocks the House
The crowd was

All Shook Up on May 3 at the seventh annual Battle of the Bands competition. This year's theme was It's Now or Never, a tribute to the King of Rock 'n' Roll - Elvis Presley. Each band performed at least one Elvis song. They were judged by alumni band Uncommon Sense - Alex Jordan '08, Matt Pritchett '10 and Owen McInnis '10. Jordan, Pritchett and McInnis rocked the house with original material and also as expert judges who shared valuable insight with Padre musicians. Thank you, Uncommon Sense!

Sports Shout-outs
Congratulations to the Serra varsity baseball team on another successful season. Our Padres are co-champions of the WCAL. Next up: CCS playoffs this week (check out our website for the schedule).

Joe Kmak, the son of Serra Hall-of-Famer Joe Kmak '81, took second place in the CCS swimming championships in the 100-yard breaststroke (55.8). This time ranks him in the top 20 in the nation in this event.

Our WCAL championship tennis team placed second in the CCS finals - they have now advanced to the Norcal Championships in Sacramento this Friday and Saturday.

GOOD LUCK AND GO PADRES!
