Greetings!
The last month has been full of excitement, fundraising and education. The month began with more than 575 alumni and friends of Serra attending Fund a Dream. The event has already raised $350,000 and counting! All proceeds will benefit Serra's Financial Aid Program.

Next up was Career Day. More than 40 alumni came back to Serra to share their wealth of knowledge with our current Padres. The day began with the presentation of the Junípero Serra Award to Phillip Kilbridge '90. As the executive director of Habitat for Humanity Greater Bay Area, Phillip is making a difference every day.

I am very pleased that so many of our alums are visiting our campus. Serra is a wonderful community, and I want every alumnus to know that he is always welcome to come back for a visit. Don't miss our spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, which begins March 15. Join us for a sporting event - the annual Alumni Baseball and Volleyball Games will be held on Saturday, March 30. Please stop by to play or watch...and, of course, catch up with your fellow Padres.

Hope to see you on the 30th!

Sincerely,

Bob Greene, Jr. '85

Phillip Kilbridge '90 Honored with

Junípero Serra Award

Phillip Kilbridge '90 was honored with the

Junípero Serra Award on Wednesday, which is the highest honor given to a Serra alumnus.

"This award is given to someone who has excelled in all areas of his life," said Serra President Lars Lund. "We are extremely proud of Phillip for all of the great work he does as the executive director of Habitat for Humanity Greater Bay Area."

As the executive director of Habitat for Humanity Greater San Francisco, Kilbridge witnesses many life-changing moments for families in need. Some have hit hard times. Others have lost hope and just need someone to give them a chance.

Kilbridge was inspired to give back when he was a student at Serra. "I became very involved in volunteering not because it was required, but because I wanted to make a difference," he remembered. "I always knew that for me, making a dollar wasn't nearly as important as making a difference."

On Wednesday, Kilbridge was joined by his wife, Kelley Karandjeff; his two little boys, Elias and Alex; his parents, Dr. Thomas Kilbridge and Dr. Jean Kilbridge; his brother, William Kilbridge '89; and his lifelong friend, Dr. Matthew Keyser '90.

"Standing in front of 900 future community leaders at my alma mater was motivating," Kilbridge said. "Alumni can find a variety of ways to give back to Serra, whether they return for Career Day, volunteer or serve on various committees. The caliber of the students and the quality of the experience will continue to make you proud to be a Padre."
Around the Halls
Career Day Inspires Padres

The Serra halls were packed on March 6 with alumni who came back for Career Day. Although they have chosen different life paths, each alumnus inspired students by sharing highlights of his career, what it took to get there, and how his days at Serra prepared him for his future career.

Dan Schott '81 mesmerized the crowd with vignettes of his career as a U.S. Secret Service agent. For more than two decades, his duties have included investigating major international financial crimes, protecting world leaders and keeping the president of the United States safe. Kevin Flynn '82 outlined what it takes to be a certified public accountant. Sam Walsh '05 is a content writer at Facebook. He spoke about the technology industry, as well as his experiences in the Peace Corps. Franko Palomba '79 and Steve Blandino '90 shared financial advice. Law enforcement alumni  - Mike Callagy '80, Dave Peruzzaro '90 and Brian Philip '92 - wowed the crowd outside with a mobile, state-of-the art command post and a S.W.A.T. armored vehicle. Padre parent Sam Runco, the "Godfather of home theater," shared his Emmy Award with Padres and talked about the future of television.

Thank you to all who participated in this exciting event!

"It is, hands down, the funniest musical I have ever seen," said Serra Music Director Jay Jordan. "It is beyond clever in every way. I know our cast has enjoyed it immensely, and I hope our audiences will as well."
