The Northeast Missouri Regional Arthritis Center provides arthritis education and information to community groups, organizations, classes, professionals, or individuals.
It is one of seven such centers established in Missouri by the Department of Health.
Counties served by the Northeast Center are: Clark, Lewis, Marion, Ralls, Scotland, Knox, Shelby, Schuyler, Adair, Macon, Putnam, Sullivan, Linn, Mercer, Grundy, and Livingston.
It is estimated that 1.2 million Missourians have rheumatic disease. The state program is designed to promote optimal quality of life for people with arthritis by increasing public knowledge regarding the need for early, accurate diagnosis and appropriate early treatment.
Educational information about the different types of arthritis and related conditions and ways to live well with arthritis is available to you and your community.

"Retirement Preparation:
The Personal and Social Challenges"
Dr. Michael Creedon has been lecturing on retirement issues since 1979. He has extensive experience as the Director of Education and Director of the Institute for the Study of Pre-Retirement and Aging at the Catholic University of America.
Creedon has directed retirement programs for 100 corporations and government agencies and initiated the National Council on Aging "Fortysomething Program" for mid-career workers. At Johns Hopkins University, he was the founding Coordinator and later Board Chair of the Johns Hopkins Odyssey Certificate on Aging Studies.
Creedon is the Chair of the ATSU Aging Studies Project and is presently the keynote speaker for the US Department of State Retirement Preparation Program.

Anna Kaminski,
Health Careers/Education Coordinator

NEMO AHEC is pleased to announce Anna Kaminski, MHA as their Health Careers & Health Education Coordinator. Kaminski will provide leadership in coordinating middle school and high school health career club and career exploration opportunities, while also supporting community outreach efforts in the NEMO AHEC 21-county service area.
Becky Dawson, Executive Director of NEMO AHEC, stated, "We are excited to have Anna on our team. Her enthusiasm and fresh ideas will play a key role in providing high quality service and support to students and community agencies in our area. We are very fortunate that we were able to find someone of Anna's caliber to fulfill this role."
Kaminski graduated from Truman State University in 2011 with her B.S. in Health Science and a Minor in Business Administration. At Truman State, she enjoyed being a member of the Varsity swimming team, and volunteering for local community organizations such as NEMO Heart Health. After college, Kaminski attended the University of Iowa and graduated with her Masters in Health Administration in May of 2013. "I am happy to return back to Kirksville, and look forward to becoming involved in the Northeast Missouri community once again," Kaminski commented.
As the Health Careers & Health Education Coordinator, Kaminski will work with the NEMO AHEC staff to continue providing programs to encourage young people to enter the health care workforce and increase the number of health care professionals in medically underserved areas in Missouri.
