Everett Public Schools InTouch
Dear ,

1,500 new tablets delivered to teachers in record time!

The Deployment Center at the Community Resource Center was humming from the end of July through mid-October. Nine student summer workers, supported by the Learning and Information Technology Services (LITS) network team, LITS Help Desk and LITS field techs, along with LITS office managers, imaged and deployed 1,500 tablets in 35.5 days! The team was recognized and thanked at the Oct. 11 school board meeting.

"Teamwork makes the dream work," shared Simran Takhar, 2016 graduate of Cascade High School.

Now that the tablets have been delivered, teachers and administrators are learning, with trainings from the Learning Management Systems (LMS) team, to use the tablets and find the best ways to integrate them in their classrooms in preparation for 1:1 student learning in the future.

Congratulations to our summer readers!

Nearly 7,000 students immersed themselves in the magic of reading this summer. The goals of the district's second annual summer reading program were to eliminate the summer reading slide by putting text into the hands of students, monitoring their progress, and providing incentives for increasing school and community engagement in reading for all K-12 students. The research is clear that children who do not read during the summer can lose up to three months of reading progress and that loss has a cumulative, long-term effect. Go to page A5 on the online 'printed' edition of The Daily Herald to find your student's name.
High School & Beyond celebrated all over the district!

Whittier Elementary School staff showing their spirit!

Oct. 18, 19 and 20 were buzzing with excitement as Cascade, Everett and Henry M. Jackson high schools held their High School & Beyond events. Most schools held 'spirit wear' days and shared their post-high school education experiences with their students.

Students and their families gathered information about colleges, technical schools, military opportunities and other career options during the events. Thank you to everyone involved in making these such successful, well-attended events.
