Parents wanted to review elementary literacy materials
New classroom materials will be implemented during the 2017-18 school year in kindergarten through fifth grades.

The district's elementary literacy selection team, which will include two parents, will spend this year reviewing core reading program and learning materials to be used by elementary students starting in the fall of 2017. The team's work will result in a recommendation to the superintendent. Core instructional materials are adopted directly by the school board.

Each parent representative will need to have a child currently enrolled in an Everett Public Schools elementary school. Read more ...

Annual Student Achievement Report
In the spring of 2016, for the second time, Everett Public Schools administered the Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBA) in English Language Arts (ELA) and math as part of the Washington Comprehensive Assessment Program.

The administration of these assessments followed an extensive period of preparation at the school and district level including the implementation of the Common Core State Standards, adoption and use of Chromebooks in the classroom, and education and training for staff, students, and parents.

This report to the board will provide 2016 assessment data and will demonstrate that, as a result of this careful planning and successful implementation of the SBA, students in Everett Public Schools outperformed the state consistently at every grade level.

The board will host special recognitions of Lowell Elementary for its Title 1 Reading Performance Growth Award and Snohomish County for grants to replace or enhance playground equipment at Cedar Wood, Hawthorne and Lowell elementary schools.

The board will also receive a special presentation on the annual student achievement report.

The board will also review revisions to the district's Capital Facilities Plan 2016-21, which includes four additional, potential future projects: upgrades to the Memorial Baseball Stadium, synthetic turf fields at Cascade High School and Jackson High School, a science and instructional materials center, and a south satellite bus facility.
