EHS students parade at Jackson Elementary, thank teachers & wow littl'uns
Rampant tears and big bear hugs were the actions of the morning on June 8 as Everett High School almost-graduates walked the halls of Jackson Elementary in caps and gowns.
 

Cascade High senior is Frontier Communications summer intern
Recognizing the potential of local bright high school graduates, Frontier Communications designed a STEM internship program specifically to help those students prepare for college work focused on STEM topics.

Cascade High School's Angela Nguyen will work with Frontier professionals this summer in preparation for her college studies.

300 Evergreen students study Energy Matters
On June 14, Evergreen Middle School students traveled to Fluke Corporation to demonstrate their year-long energy research and get "hands-on" experience with energy careers and professionals.

Gateway teacher librarian is district's 2016 Teacher of the Year
Honored by the school board June 7, Stacy Stephens will now be considered for Regional Teacher of the Year.

For the last 17 years, Stephens, now Gateway Middle School's teacher librarian, has sparked interest in reading, technology, research, collaboration, the future, and so much more.

Free meals for kids this summer
Through a federal grant, Everett Public Schools Food and Nutrition Program offers free lunches for kids ages 1-18 years of age from July 5 through Aug. 25 (unless otherwise noted).

The school board will meet in regular session on Tuesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway in Everett.

Recruitment, Retention and Affirmative Action Report
Each year, the board reviews student enrollment, staff hiring and retention information as well as staff diversity data.
Secondary Sexual Health Education Instructional Materials (first reading)
After extensive review, including parent review, the new Secondary Sexual Health Education Instructional Materials will be presented to the board for the first of at least two readings. The proposed curriculum materials were rated highest among other comparable materials by Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI).
Contract for Pupil Transportation Services
The board will review the bids from two pupil transportation vendors: Durham Transportation Services and First Student. The board will also review the recommendations from district staff who toured and visited facilities and operations for the two transportation vendors. The district awards this transportation contract a year before the current contract ends to allow for transition and fleet growth, if needed.
2016-17 Operating Budget (first reading)
Each year at this time, the board reviews the proposed budget revenues and expenditures for the upcoming year. The board will also review the Fiscal Advisory Council (FAC) Report which includes recommendations for the 2016-17 fiscal year budget. The FAC Report will be available on the district website soon.
