Hawthorne Elementary School playground
update! 
Approximately $76,000 has been raised to provide new playground equipment at Hawthorne Elementary School. Thank you to the many private individuals (more than $4,000 through Everett Public Schools Foundation and others), Howarth Trust ($25,000 through the Everett Public Schools Foundation), Hawthorne PTA ($26,266), a grant from Snohomish County ($16,000) and Schaffer Crane ($5,000) for funding new playground equipment at the school. District assessment scores continue to surpass state
The hard work of students and staff members continues to pay off as Everett Public Schools student assessment scores in ELA, math and science exceed the state in all areas
Teacher sets sail for 16 days to survey sharks at sea
Monroe Elementary teacher, Barney Peterson, sails again with Teacher at Sea program Barney Peterson, a fourth-grade teacher at Monroe Elementary School, set sail August 13 to assist scientists on a 16-day survey of sharks in the Gulf of Mexico.

Last summer, it was NASA space camp. This summer, it's sailing with NOAA to survey sharks. Teacher Barney Peterson brings her real-world adventures back to the classroom.

The school board will meet in regular session on Tuesday, beginning at 4:30 p.m. in the Community Resource Center at 3900 Broadway in Everett.

Capital Facilities Plan 2016-21
The district's Capital Facilities Plan 2016-21 (CFP) includes a description of the district's educational program standards, school capacity calculations, student enrollment projections, future facilities needs, and a finance plan addressing future facilities needs. Once adopted by the school board, it must be approved by the Snohomish County Council in order to receive updated school impact fees for new residential housing units permitted in the unincorporated portions of the district effective January 1, 2017.

Technology Action Plan update
The school board will receive an update on the district's technology plan.
